Senior Data Scientist

For our client WhiteAway Group, we are looking for an experienced Data Scientist to strengthen their Digital Product team in Aarhus. Your passion and data science professionalism as well as statistical skills will create great value, and you will certainly have great impact on their findings. You will be a driving force in utilizing their customer experimentation platform to constantly improve the customers’ buying experience.
WhiteAway Group sells and ships household appliances to customers in Scandinavia, with an ongoing focus on great customer experiences. Right from the beginning, the company has been focused on a fresh approach to the market and a digital mindset. This has resulted in a strong growth, and they still have huge ambitions.
You will join a dedicated team of three data scientists as well as researchers, UX specialists, designers, product management - all part of Digital Product, nested within their Tech department, currently almost 40 people.
Your team’s focus is to help build the right digital solutions and insights for the organisation by discovering and solving the right problems. This could e.g., be encouraging data driven decision making, investigating which products are likely to return and why, pricing strategies, etc. The goal is to give customers the best possible experience, deliver relevant tools and data to employees – all in all a well-performing business, based on data.
About the job
As Data Scientist, your primary role is to develop research questions and undertake data exploration to understand who their customers are, how to bring value to them, and where WhiteAway Group can develop their product to bring greater value.
You will challenge the business and their way of viewing customer behaviour, bringing new insights to the forefront in everything they do in WhiteAway Group - thereby turning data into value for the business.
Your daily tasks will include:
- Design, analyse, and interpret the results of experiments
- Perform exploratory analyses to understand the potential for scaling machine learning and automation
- Automate and improve processes through machine learning
- Contribute to the development of the Product Insights function and the wider analytics community at WhiteAway Group
- Help identify and quantify impact of data product candidates
Your background
You are data-driven by heart and passionate about the opportunity to build data science in a key role. You have great analytical skills and a never-ending curiosity to understand customers behaviour, trends, and patterns.
You have at least +3 years of relevant applied experience with a master’s degree or higher in computer science, statistics, economics, mathematics, or another quantitative discipline. And you have strong statistical understanding of online testing methodologies and metrics development.
Moreover, you have experience in the following technologies and tasks.
- Understand Bayesian methods and advantages.
- High proficiency in Python and preferably also SQL.
- Write “production ready”-code and familiar with containerisation (e.g. Docker) and know how to optimize code for real time application of models.
- Experience working with cloud technologies. Experience with AWS Cloud technologies, Apache Spark or Airflow is preferred.
You have great interpersonal skills and mentor other data scientist as a natural part of your job. And you are an independent thinker, able to work autonomously, capable of taking on loosely defined problems and translating complex thinking into practical application for diverse audiences.
