Kamstrup is a Danish technology company and one of the world’s leading manufacturers of smart metering solutions with headquarters in Stilling south of Aarhus. Our ambition is to turn meter data into insight to help utility companies optimize their production and distribution of energy and water. Kamstrup’s business is undergoing rapid development, which means that the requirements and demands for our smart solutions targeting the utility industry are growing. Therefore, we are looking for a Data Scientist to join our Data Science team.

With a direct reference to our Team Manager, Data Science, you will become part of our Data Science team in the Technology department. In the team you will be working alongside highly skilled Data Scientists and Software Developers in Denmark and Spain and together we form the Analytics team. We are a highly agile team that innovates closely with our utility clients to fulfill our mission of developing intelligent solutions that will enable our utility clients to make decisions based on insights from data.

A job focusing on creating innovative data solutions
In the position as Data Scientist your primary responsibility will be to conduct data experiments enabling us to develop innovative solutions that utilize the hidden value within data obtained from meters and grid sensors. You will do this through direct and consistent contact with Product Managers, Software Developers, customers, UX Designers, and Hardware Developers. You will be working on proof-of-concept projects and collaborating with our software development team who deliver the final commercial solution.

More specifically you will be responsible for:

  • Doing data discovery on new and existing data sources
  • Framing new ideas for data analytics based on dialogue with internal and external stakeholders
  • Working on PoC projects together with customers
  • Designing and developing algorithms for customer-facing products

You can expect 15-20 travel days per year.

Personality matters
We are looking for a talented Data Scientist who can take our analytical platform to new heights in collaboration with partners and customers worldwide. We imagine that you hold a degree in Natural Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science, or similar, and we imagine that you have experience within modelling, coding, and statistics. Ideally, you have 2+ years of experience, but what matters most is your attitude and drive to innovate and create new customer-centric data solutions for our customers.

In addition, it is a requirement that you have experience with the following:

  • Machine learning – e.g. from forecasting, optimisation, recommender systems, or predictive maintenance
  • Coding (we use python and R)
  • Collaborative coding using e.g. git
  • Data extraction and wrangling

Moreover, it will be considered an advantage, if you have experience with one or more of the following:

  • Building data visualization applications for prototypes and PoC’s using Shiny or dash
  • Containerisation using e.g. Kubernetes
  • Collaboration with software development teams
  • Linux or Unix
  • Knowledge about the utility industry

With your strong communication skills, you can communicate in an efficient and professional manner. You work structurally and analytically, making it easy for you to prioritize your tasks efficiently and reach your deadlines. You are enthusiastic about improvement as you see possibilities rather than restrictions, and therefore continuously seek new challenges that can improve and optimize our solutions.

You are fluent in English both written and verbally.
