Project Director – Green Fertilizer Denmark

Danish agriculture is going through historical changes. There is broad agreement that the profession must be climate neutral by 2050. To achieve that goal, new methods and products with the ability to lower the emission of greenhouse gases by the individual farmer must be found.

The four large cooperatives DLG, Danish Agro, Arla and Danish Crown have joined forces with precisely that goal in mind and founded the new company Green Fertilizer Denmark (GFD). The company’s mission is to investigate the possibilities of making a more sustainable fertilizer based on offshore wind through the Power-to-X technology (PtX).

With reference to the Chairman of the Board of GFD we are looking for a Project Director, who can lead and manage both the development phase of the project and potentially the construction phase of a modern and best-in-class plant providing green fertilizer to the Danish and Northern European markets. The expected investment amount is at least EUR 0,5 bn.

Your responsibility

• Serve as single point of contact between the GFD’s board, owners and stakeholders. Maintain appropriate communication with senior management and all project groups and functions within and outside the company
• Define project and communicate the project and portfolio resource needs and timing
• Communicate and align internal goals and expectations to 3rd party service providers
• Identify and secure relevant competences within the project team
• Ensure cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management with clients and potential partners, within the project and with external consultants
• Prepare and distribute progress status reports to relevant stakeholders

The overall project will run through different phases. The first phase is the development phase where the goal is to deliver a feasibility study on which Final Investment Decision (FID) will can be made. Depending on the outcome of the FID, the next phase of the project will be construction of the new sustainable fertilizer plant.

We expect you to set up a small and fast working project organization with capabilities to work closely with our partners, and to deliver results within short timeframes.

Profile

• Professional project management experience (minimum 10 years) and track record of successful project development and construction of infrastructure projects, preferably within the renewable energy sector, process industry or other relevant sector
• Experience with stakeholder management at all levels, incl. senior and executive management
• Familiarity with commercial matters, especially with business cases
• Strong leadership experience and organisational skills
• Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal)
• Danish and English, written and spoken at minimum a professional level
• Maintain the overview and have a systematic and pro-active approach to your work
• A flexible team player with a collaborative mindset
