The position
We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic medical executive to join our Global Research & Development organisation in a newly established senior leadership role as SVP, Global Chief Medical Office (GCMO). In this role, you will act as scientific advisor to the EVP of R&D and the Global R&D leadership team, and your primary objective will be to ensure “one global medical voice” for ALK internally and represent the medical voice of ALK externally. You will be responsible for 2 Medical Affairs teams, 1 team located in the US and 1 team located at our Headquarters in Denmark, and you will be part of the Global R&D leadership team, reporting to the EVP of R&D.

The position

Your primary tasks will be to:
- Provide visionary medical leadership, set the strategic direction for medical services, including patient focused drug development initiatives and ensure alignment with Global R&D strategy.
- Build strong relationships with the allergy community and promote healthcare initiatives to the benefit of the people living with allergy.
- Be the medical expert in allergy, immunology and related disease areas.
- Be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of patient care, maintaining regulatory compliance, and driving medical excellence across ALK.
- Act as a knowledgeable and credible expert and peer in collaborations with external Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), Medical Associations and Regulatory Authorities.
- Chair global advisory boards and Co-chair future global portfolio board.
- Support Commercial Operations as the medical spokesperson in interactions with HCPs.
- Establish a strong collaboration with Medical Affairs teams in Commercial Operations across US, Europe, International Markets and Partner Markets.
- Participate in strategic planning processes, contribute to the development of healthcare programs and services, and evaluate the impact of new initiatives on patient care including shared decision making.
- Stay abreast of all relevant healthcare regulations, guidelines, and industry trends and ensure ALK’s compliance with all relevant regulations and maintain accreditation standards.
- Build and mentor a high-performing organisation, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
- Develop and manage the GCMO functional budget effectively.
Your profile
We expect that you:
- Have a Medical Doctor (MD) degree, Board Certification in a relevant medical specialty (e.g. allergy, dermatology, paediatrics, pulmonary), and eligibility for medical licensure.
- Are recognised as a global thought leader, a leading voice in defining treatment guidelines and a trusted individual who is called upon by regulators and medical associations to speak and participate in workshops.
- Have strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, reimbursement, and market access.
- Have proven leadership experience in a senior medical management role within a healthcare organisation and/or biopharmaceutical company.
- Demonstrate strong, inclusive leadership skills, including the ability to effectively lead, motivate and engage a diverse team of healthcare professionals.
- Possess a visionary mindset and the ability to think and act strategically.
- Have excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
