Job Description
We are looking to employ a board-certified neurologist or a MD with extensive medical/research background within the field of neurology (neurodegenerative disease) with a passion for drug development. You will be part of a team of highly talented colleagues working within clinical development. About the department
Medical & Science, GLP-1, CV and Outcomes is part of Global Development in Søborg, Copenhagen, Denmark. We are medically responsible for clinical development strategies and programmes of the Novo Nordisk GLP-1 analogue portfolio for the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and more recently neurodegenerative diseases. Our responsibilities include medical and scientific support to the planning, execution and reporting of clinical trials and providing support to health authority interactions throughout the drug life-cycle. The department consists of approximately 30 medical specialists (MDs).
The position
You will be supporting key projects within neuro-degenerative disease therapy area, and be accountable as senior medical expert for providing input to all medical aspects of drug development including the following key responsibilities:
- Support projects in global development with medical expertise within chronic serious diseases including neuro-degenerative disease therapy area and provide insights to current and new diagnostics, new treatment modalities and translational medicine
- Provide medical & scientific insight within the neuro-degenerative disease therapy area to support effective non-clinical and clinical development activities
- Support medical specialists in developing clinical development plans within the neuro-degenerative disease therapy area
- Support the Project VPs and VPs of Medical and Science with activities within innovation sourcing and “due diligence” assessments
- Collaborate with the Chief Medical Office and Global Medical Affairs to obtain external advice facilitating excellence within drug development
- Participate in health authority/academia/industry collaborative meetings, aiming at developing guidelines and ‘white papers’ of relevance for the drug development activities within chronic serious diseases including neuro-degenerative disease therapy area
You will collaborate closely with colleagues across the Novo Nordisk organisation. The job is globally oriented and will require strong interactions with colleagues in headquarter and the regions as well as external stakeholders including regulatory bodies, treating physicians and therapeutic experts.
Qualifications
You must hold a university degree as a Medical Doctor and be board certified neurologist or extensive clinical/medical/research background within the field of neuro-degenerative diseases. Minimum 10 years of medical, scientific and/or business experience from the pharmaceutical or related industry or from the medical academic field.
More than 5 years expert knowledge on the drug development and life cycle management, preferably from direct participation in project teams through substantial parts of the product development life cycle including medicinal product (drug or device) registration and approval experience.
Clinical and previous patient care experience within relevant therapeutic area is required, and international experience, e.g. international assignment or experience from working within major international markets/partnerships is an advantage
Interaction with internal and external global experts require strong experience with cross-functional teamwork, proficiency in English, excellent communication, coordination and planning capacities.
