Senior Director Value Management to Carlsberg Group – Copenhagen


Are you passionate about applying modern Value Management tools such as McKinsey’s advanced RGM tools? Do you want to define the overall VM strategy for Carlsberg Group “above market”, develop an operational roadmap, and design Best Practice in processes, tools and metrics to deliver profitable top-line growth sustainably? We are looking for an experienced Executive in the VM discipline to join a newly established Group Commercial Development function that aims to prepare competencies, processes, tools and planning for 35 Carlsberg markets. Value Management capability is a key part of Carlsberg’s commercial routine to shift gears and deliver top-line growth goals for the next few years.

In the role, you will report directly to the VP Commercial Development, head a team of 3 FTEs and indirectly, you will support and head numerous VM resources in the markets. Primary work location will be in Carlsberg’s head office in Copenhagen, and if needed, a relocation package will be offered.

Head Transformation and Change towards Excellence in Value Management


Your role will be imperative for building the foundation for Carlsberg’s future growth. Your criteria for success will be to change focus from a commodity pricing model towards flexible and real-life pricing, and to professionalize and ensure that Carlsberg can measure with their best performing competitors. You will act in a leadership and globally oriented role, centrally positioned in the Group and with great reach into and collaboration with Senior Management in the markets.

The role will entail a lot of stakeholder management, communication and support in transforming “ways of working – and thinking”. Your responsibilities will cover following:

  • Define and execute the Carlsberg Group above market VM strategy and governance model.
  • Build a common framework and operating model to develop VM capability and make it an integral part of a commercial routine in the markets.
  • Embed VM in local commercial planning processes – linking VM processes for the rest of the annual cycle and defining relevant meeting structure – including content and stakeholders.
  • Increase VM capability across the Group on pricing, trade terms, promotions, and assortment.
  • Develop and maintain tools for VM and ensure local embedding together with the regional CVPs and CFOSs.

We expect you to be a strong networker, who can act, interact and communicate across all levels in an organization, with both multi-cultural empathy and political understanding. With your communication, you impact and change. In your people management, you demonstrate empathy, have coaching skills and show a genuine interest in developing others. Besides working well with strategies and concepts, you also have a pragmatic mindset and operational approach, where you simplify what does not need to be complex. You are ambitious about delivering top performance, in your own work and as part of a team.

Professionally, your experience of course entails a deep understanding of +5 years with RGM and VM and in-depth knowledge of the FMCG industry. Your experience also includes following:

  • Experience in Business / Sales Development, Sales, Finance, or Customer/Channel Marketing, experience (preferably in FMCG) appreciated.
  • Experience with strategic planning, and execution with documented business results.
  • Advanced project management skills and proven management experience.
  • A results-oriented approach with an ability to operate effectively both within a team environment but also as an individual contributor.
