Team Leader for the Downstream/Purification part of our Mammalian Pharmaceutical Production

We are seeking a strong people manager with experience preferably within API production or other areas within the pharmaceutical industry. AGC Biologics is a Contract Manufacturing and Development Organization (CDMO) with facilities in Denmark, Germany, Japan and USA and with customers from all over the world.
The Department
The Mammalian Manufacturing Department is responsible for the production of Drug Bulk Intermediate (DBI) / Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) for pre-clinical, clinical and commercial use. The downstream/purification part consists of state of the art unit operations such as UF/DF/TFF, different chromatography techniques, virus inactivation/filtrations and filling operations etc. Upstream we have the capabilities of using state of the art fed batch- and perfusion processes for cultivation, seed train and recovery. This mainly in single use equipment.
Organizational wise the Mammalian Manufacturing Department is currently under establishment and consist of 3 teams headed up by 2 team leaders and a manager referring to the director of the department. The department is responsible for all production activities on 3 different production lines.
The position
As the Team Leader for the Downstream/Purification team you will be the direct leader of +15 technicians and two scientists. It will be your responsibility to people manage these people on an operational level in accordance with production schedule.
People management, planning- and coordination of work, conducting mid- and end year appraisals, hiring people, secure prober training are in place, conducting board meetings, process confirmation on the shop floor and optimization of work processes in general (LEAN) will be some of the tasks that you will be responsible for.
There is constant collaboration across the organization, and all employees have a professional and flexible attitude towards their work.
You will be part of the leadership in the department where operation, organizational development and optimization of the entire department are key.
Experience and competencies
The ideal candidate holds a BSc or MSc in Engineering or Chemistry/Biochemistry and have previous been a leader preferably within the pharmaceutical industry. The ideal candidate for the position has several of the below competencies/experiences
• +5 years of experience from the pharmaceutical industry working in an GMP environment
• +2 years of leadership experience
• Strong communication skills (English)
• Strong collaboration skills
• LEAN oriented
• Can cope with a high work pace in a dynamic environment
• Structured and analytical oriented
