Power Solutions Applications, Controls & Electrical Electrical Models
Power System Integration is a part of Power Solutions, which is where new product ideas and technologies are developed, matured, tested, and improved. To put it in short, Vestas Power Solutions is the cornerstone of Vestas - we are shaping the future of modern energy.
You will be part of a key organisation within Vestas by joining our Power System Integration area with core competencies within Power System, Control, and Software Engineering. In Power System Integration, we span across being in very close interaction with the market as well as being involved in various innovation activities with external collaborators while focusing on product development as our main goal. The core outputs within Power System Integration are the design of the electrical infrastructure of Vestas renewable power plants and the Vestas power plant controller and electrical simulation models of wind turbines.
Electrical Models is a department within Power System Integration and focuses mainly on the design of the electrical simulation models of Vestas’ wind turbines and power plant controllers.
The team is very diverse and is working out of both Denmark and Porto. The team is characterised by having strong collaboration where people support each other and take great pride in their work. Responsibilities
As a Power System Engineer in Electrical Models, you will be part of a global team and your main responsibilities and tasks will be:
- Ensure the highest possible performance and quality of electrical simulation models of our wind turbines and plant controllers, through development, testing, and validation
- Ensure that our electrical simulation models can be certified worldwide by working closely with your colleagues in Porto and Denmark with inputs from Vestas technical sales engineers and TSOs globally
- Analyse functionality of power electronic converter systems and power plant controllers
- Participate in cross-functional teams developing control functionalities for power system mainly related wind turbines and power plant controllers
- Provide technical solutions to address specific issues to integrate wind power plant into the grid without impacting stability and reliability
- Engineering activities in optimizing the electrical simulation model development and validation processes together with specialists in the team
- Perform power system simulations and transient analysis for specific issues observed in power networks with high penetration levels of renewable energy sources
Qualifications
- B.Sc., M.Sc. or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or similar
- Experience with power system engineering
- Solid knowledge of different power system simulation tools (PSS/E, DigSilent PowerFactory, PSCAD, TSAT, ADPSS)
- It will be desirable that you have knowledge in:
- Power system time domain and frequency domain modeling and stability/transient analysis
- Software and programming skills (C, C++, Python, Jira, SourceTree, Git, etc.)
- Power electronic converters applied to non-conventional power generation systems
- Controller design across different applications in machine drive systems and power system dynamics
- Working with teams under agile and scrum methodologies
