You will be part of a newly formed data science team focusing on fact based and data driven decision making in our asset heavy terminals and vessels. Activities of the team include developing event based simulations, digital twins, operational optimizations, prescriptive analysis and automated planning and forecasting tools.

Key Responsibilities:

Deeply understand our customer and business problems, identify their decision challenges and translate them to actionable analyses by means of advanced scientific methods. Further, develop data driven solutions for the identified problems to which you will apply your experience with operations to improve reliability and performance. We care about team members who are not only technical specialists but are excited about understanding the challenges in logistics domain.

Be able to work end-to-end: design, prototype, implement and test descriptive, predictive, prescriptive and optimization models as software, in a talented and highly engaged team of growth hackers, data scientists and software engineers.

Operate in a scrum team with a dedicated product manager, independently directing your time and resources together with other software engineers and data scientists in the team. Develop the wider data science community at Maersk, working with stakeholders including our executive, product, data and design teams to create the processes, culture and technical landscape to ensure we are leading global trade in the next century.

Who we are looking for:

• Industry experience, in either a software or technical industrial company, as part of a team developing software. This is a hands-on development role.
• Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages (Python, Java, Scala) to build and apply data science models (e.g., predictive, optimization and simulations).
• Understanding and experience with large scale heavy asset operations.
• Experience with large-scale data systems such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, etc.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Qlickview, etc.
• Hands on experience with development of end to end machine learning and optimization models.
• Working knowledge of Docker, Jenkins, Kubernetes and cloud technologies, e.g. Azure, GCP or AWS.
• A good team player, balanced with the autonomy and motivation to produce individually, ability to communicate data science results to business stakeholders.
• Fluent proficiency in both written and oral English
