About the job

The Counterparty Risk department is looking for a Risk Manager to join the Copenhagen office. This is an excellent opportunity to be a part of the Bank’s Real-Time Risk Management project. This is a prioritized project, with high ambitions to take risk management to the next level in Saxo Bank which is important both in supporting the bank’s strategy of growing in the partner space and for improving risk management tools for clients and the Bank. The Counterparty Risk department consists of three different teams and this role will be part of the Counterparty Credit Risk Management team, which is part of the 1st line of defense. The team is responsible for margin and collateral models and for ensuring that all counterparts are prudently collateralized compared to the inherent risk from trading the products offered by the Bank. During 2020 and into 2021, the Bank has big ambitions in improving several aspects of this area and is seen as an important part of the Bank’s strategy.

In this position, you will have a key role in the team responsible for monitoring, quantifying, and managing risks arising from trading with the Bank’s different counterparts, and in this position the main focus will be on the White Label Partner space that touches upon several areas of the Bank, including both the Sales and Legal department. You will also be developing new and improved tools and frameworks for calculating, monitoring, and managing risk in real-time. The department interacts with many different stakeholders in the Bank such as Trading & Market Access, Quants, Financial Risks, Legal, Group Treasury which means that you will gain an understanding of several different areas of the Bank.

Among others, you will be responsible for:

  • Daily monitoring of the markets ensuring awareness and management of any potential risks
  • Daily handling of counterparty risk issues
  • Project work related to improving the Bank’s risk framework
  • Development and enhancement of risk and margin models, especially in the Partner space
  • Engage with and support Sales in implementing/coordinate new risk initiatives

Your profile

As a person you come across as outgoing, very organized and with the ability to multi-task. You thrive working in an agile environment, where technology is at the core, and you are keen about learning new things. You are not afraid of approaching complex problems and you have the ability to present them in a manner that makes them easy to understand.

Further, we are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Economics, Business or similar
  • 1-2 years experience from the financial industry and risk management
  • Strong analytical skills, including knowledge of pricing and market and counterparty risk concepts
  • Solid interest and understanding of financial markets, different financial instruments (FX, Cash Equities, Bonds, CFDs and Options) and the risks inherent to derivatives
  • Strong interest in IT and technology
  • Excel skills is a must, and skills in SQL and R is a strong advantage

  • Thrive on finding intelligent and automated solutions
  • Take ownership and be a team-player
    • Have strong verbal and written communication skills in English, as you will engage with our global organization daily
