Student Assistant - Biofuel Analyst

Maersk Energy Markets (MEM) is looking for a Student Analyst to help accelerate the growth and optimization of Maersk’s rapidly expanding renewable fuels portfolio.

MEM is part of the Energy Transition Division in Maersk made up of 150+ dedicated colleagues working on realizing Maersk’s aspiring 2040 net zero strategy. With offices in New York, Singapore, Rotterdam, Geneva and Copenhagen, MEM is responsible for delivering cost-competitive energy to the group, including but not limited to marine fuel, aviation fuel, and carbon sourcing. MEM creates value through asset optimization and acts as a best-in-class fuel supplier to more than 200 ports globally and approx. 750 vessels. We source more than 10 million metric tonns of fuel annually to Ocean from external suppliers and via our own supply chain. Through our dedication to become net-zero in 2040, our fuel mix will gradually turn green. This position will be part of driving the transition journey.

An exciting student position based in Copenhagen where you will:

• Take part in accelerating the uptake of renewable fuels to realize Maersk’s aspiring 2040 decarbonization strategy.
• Gain hands-on work experience in the field of Commodity Trading, Sustainability and Analytics.
• 15 to 20-hour work week with flexibility as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Integrated support to the Biofuel Trading team.
• Analyze supply demand balances of energy systems to inform Trading strategies.
• Support Commercial Planning agenda by designing price forecasting tools.
• Develop standard markets reports and support process optimization and data reconciliation.
• Analyze emerging sustainability regulation, quantify financial exposures and provide recommendations on how optimize renewable fuel supplies to achieve maximum decarbonisation impact at lowest possible cost.

Who we are looking for

• Bachelor or Master student in the field of Sustainability, Supply Chain & Logistics, Chemistry or Engineering.
• Passionate about sustainability, global trade and solving complex business problems.
• Advanced user of Excel.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively using Power Point.
• Ability to prioritize and perform effectively in an area with high complexity and ambiguity.
• Excellent communication skills in English. Danish is not required.
