Our Patient Monitoring (PMD) R&D team are looking for an experienced R&D Engineer with a proven track record in developing and/or maintaining medical devices.
Your focus will be on incremental development and maintaining the medical devices within our Patient Monitoring portfolio which covers the product categories Neurology (EMG, EEG etc.) and Cardiology (ECG).
Together with 20+ skilled Innovation colleagues, you will be a part of the Anesthesia & Patient Monitoring Innovation unit at our headquarter in Ballerup. The unit is part of Ambu’s Global Innovation organization which consists of over 300 people on multiple sites around the world. We have a great innovation culture and a clear focus on short time from idea to product launch.
Global, user-driven innovation – from idea to launch
As Senior R&D Engineer, you will be a key player in the continued development and maintenance of medical devices in the Patient Monitoring portfolio – from initial idea to implementation in production, product launch and post market activities.
Our strategy emphasizes on a high degree of user and customer involvement, and a part of the job is therefore to meet the medical professionals at their locations in operating rooms, intensive care units or pre-hospital settings
You will be responsible for documenting your work, working according to the principles of Design Control and our Product Innovation Process.
As Senior R&D Engineer your main responsibilities will be:
• Develop new products and optimize the current portfolio according to the needs of health care professionals in close cooperation with our Innovation colleagues in Penang, Malaysia.
• Ensuring that designs, and skin adhesive properties of our electrode portfolio, continue to live up to the high standards of Ambu
• Once sufficient product knowledge has been obtained, it is expected that you will function as technical product owner for one or more of the existing products.
• Stakeholder management with customer and end-users and coordination across various in-house functions including, but not limited to, Marketing, QAE, RA, Clinical, Production, Procurement.
Your contact base will be broad, and you will have an interface with Ambu’s global organization, all departments involved in innovation projects and externally with users, knowledge centers and suppliers.
Key competences
You hold a master’s degree in engineering, preferably within chemistry, mechanics, biotechnology or similar. We expect that you are specialized in medical adhesive (skin interaction, performance, stability, and test methods etc.).
You have 5+ years’ experience in developing or maintaining medical devices utilizing skin adhesives, conductive hydrogels and soft polymers aimed towards health-care professionals, and you have strong experience in design control specifically design verification and test methods. Experience with design for assembly or mechanical design will be a bonus.Title is subject to change according to experience.
You have a strong technical foundation and interest, and you can understand technical implications of various options, also in relation to production. You work well in teams and can comply with tight deadlines, while managing multiple assignments.
As a person you are curious, highly motivated, and flexible. You have great interpersonal skills and have a sense of occasion, which makes you thrive in global teams. You have a passion for new challenges. You have a strong sense of responsibility towards your work. You work in a structured and proactive way, but you are flexible and able to “think out of the box”. You are a doer rather than theorize about a task. Lastly, you thrive in a position that gives you the opportunity to travel approximately 20 days a year.
