As a Business Development Manager/Technical Sales Specialist on our Research Services team, you will position our Research Services to current and prospective customers within the Pharma/Biotech sector, maximising uptake of our services and sales across our portfolio. Our specialised custom research services include: peptide synthesis; cell line development; gene synthesis and editing; and drug discovery.
This role involves a high level of weekly travel across the EMEA region (with a focus on Western Europe) - approximately 70% to 80% of your time - including frequent overnight stays. We are happy to consider qualified candidates based anywhere within the EMEA region

What will you do:
- Develop in-depth knowledge of the market, our customers and our competitors and utilize this to open up sales opportunities and drive business growth, gaining share from our competitors while maintaining our existing business and customer base
- Forge connections and build relationships with current and prospective customers and use your scientific expertise in Cell and Molecular Biology to identify their specific requirements and develop a tailored solution for their needs
- Demonstrate use of selling skills in the field, such as making good opening statements, connecting with the customer, asking high gain questions, creating the value proposition and closing
- Deliver technical presentations to current and prospective customers
- Implement a commercial sales plan to secure and grow large research service contracts with Pharma/Biotech clients to achieve/exceed the territory plan
- Maintain a strategic business plan for the territory, ensuring delivery of revenues to plan on a quarterly basis
- Provide regular communication of successes, failures, best practices etc. to improve the overall operating efficiency of the team, region and sales organization
Who we are looking for: experience, skills & abilities
- Degree in Life Sciences
- Extensive experience in Cell & Molecular Biology gained within an industry or laboratory role
- Several years’ experience in Sales, Business Development and/or Strategic Account Management serving the Biopharmaceutical Industry
- In-depth knowledge of Biopharmaceutical services and associated technologies
- Expertise in stakeholder management; cultivating key relationships both scientific and commercial
- Entrepreneurial mindset, strong negotiator and should demonstrate track record of opening doors and developing new business
- Commitment to providing excellent customer service
- Outstanding team working skills to add value in a highly matrixed organization
- Willingness to travel extensively
- Driving licence
- Fluent in English, additional European languages a plus
