ALK is looking for a talented, passionate Translational Immunologist to work in the Immunology Department. The Immunology Department comprises human in-vitro and mouse in-vivo immunology and has ten team members. In this position, you will participate in research focused on allergic diseases and the mode of action of allergen specific Immunotherapy, including pre-clinical drug discovery and clinical research. The more we learn, the better we can select and offer the right treatment for people with allergy. Your key scientific responsibility will be to initiate and drive in-vivo experiments to support immunological research in allergy specific immunotherapy and drug discovery. Further, your role will be to strengthen the Translational Immunology by contributing to human immunology research activities. You will be part of an experienced team and will have a key role in making significant contributions to our research.

With your expertise, you will be further strengthening our experimental Immunology research platform with novel, state-of-the-art mouse in-vivo, human in-vitro and ex-vivo approaches. Through collaborations with academia, we strive to be cutting-edge in our research and, at the same time, relevant to ALK's core business.

Responsibilities:
- You will be the go-to person for in-vivo studies and will be responsible for setting up in-vivo animal studies, which includes design, planning and hands-on execution of experimental protocols
- You will use state-of-art techniques like Spectral Flow Cytometry, single cell transcriptomics, Glomax, Fluorospot, Multiplex based cytokine analysis in order to measure the activation and differentiation of innate and adaptive immune cells
- You will perform exploratory in-vivo studies within food, pollen and house dust mite allergy-oriented research and contributing to innovation across drug discovery programmes within Global Research
- You will actively participate in the human immunology studies and scientific discussions across different projects
- This is a lab-based position and, in your everyday work life, you will be working closely with the scientists and technicians within the department
- You are expected to work both independently and as a part of, multidisciplinary teams on several projects within Global Research
- You will participate in cross-functional project teams, and present data to different stakeholders within Translational Research and the rest of Global Research
- You will maintain a strong work ethic for generating high quality data, processing and presenting it to target audience
- Stay updated with cutting-edge scientific developments in the field
- You will have the right mindset to thrive in an energetic and highly collaborative environment
With your expertise, you will be further strengthening our experimental Immunology research platform with novel, state-of-the-art mouse in-vivo, human in-vitro and ex-vivo approaches. Required qualifications:
- Ph.D. in immunology with preferably at least two years of post-doctoral experience or similar in immunology/translational immunology research
- FELASA B certification or European equivalent of FELASA B is a must and FELASA C would be an advantage
- Experience within allergy, asthma and inflammation, and documented publications in peer reviewed journals would be an advantage
- Experience of working with mouse and human blood and cells would be a clear advantage
- Experience in T-cell and B-cell biology - immune cell phenotyping, activation assays, cytokine detection would be a clear advantage
- Experience with state-of-art techniques like Luminex platform (MSD, Magpix), Multi-Color Flow Cytometry would be an advantage
- Basic understanding of statistics and experience with handling and interpreting large data sets are absolute advantages
- Good scientific ability demonstrated by a track record of publications
- An open, proactive person with a collaborative mindset, excellent presentation skills and flair for working in cross-functional teams
- Maintain a strong work ethic for generating high quality data and presenting it to internal and external stakeholders
- Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, organisational and analytical skills are required
