At Pharmacosmos we are currently expanding our Business Development and Strategy team with two new positions, and we are looking for qualified and experienced candidates for the position as Medical Associate. The opportunity



Building on our success with our own developed products, as the next major step in our journey, we are strengthening our portfolio through key strategic business development and licensing opportunities. As an example, we have acquired the Boston based biotech AbFero, bringing in house an orphan drug in hematological rare diseases. The Business Development and Strategy function thus holds a pivotal, impactful role in shaping the future of Pharmacosmos. The Business Development and Strategy function is a high-profile team, working closely with the executive leadership team, the board, as well as across functions and with targets and external partners.

The responsibilities of the Medical Associate Business Development and Strategy is centered around the following:

  • Search and screening: Scanning the market for exciting new, up-and-coming M&A or licensing opportunities aligned to Pharmacosmos’ strategy. Assessing the targets vs. key screening criteria to recommend to the team whether to engage with the company and dive into detailed assessment. Supporting dialogues with identified targets. With your medical background, you will apply your knowledge to assess the targets from a medical point of view.

  • Evaluation and transaction: Supporting evaluation of opportunities, building the business case and driving select analyses with focus on Medical. Help drive the due diligence process and providing inputs and helping prepare materials for the different stages of the transaction process. Working closely with internal and external workstreams to ensure progress.

  • Strategic support: Helping drive the critical Business Development and Strategy processes, including investment committee meetings, target status reporting and strategic project execution.


The team



The Business Development and Strategy team consists of a Senior Vice President, two Business Development and Strategy directors and two Associates. In this role, you will report to one of the Business Development and Strategy Directors. In our team, we work closely together through all the different stages of the BD process, with multiple areas of responsibilities. You will therefore get a unique opportunity to be highly involved in all stages of the Business Development and Strategy process with a lot of exposure to the top management and owners of Pharmacosmos, as well as with a dynamic range of external consultants and advisors.

What you bring to the team



The ideal candidate for this position will, among other qualifications, bring the following to the team:

  • Exhibits a high degree of drive and entrepreneurship, with strong sense of end-to-end ownership.
  • Have an analytical and detailed oriented mindset, while having a solid ability to synthesize key points top-down for broader communication.
  • Be a team-player, thriving in an environment with a diverse range of functions and variety of responsibilities.


Qualifications for the role



  • Holds a degree as MD, PhD, M.Sc. or relevant B.Sc. in pharmacy or other relevant discipline in natural sciences is a requirement, preferred combined with experience, either through clinical or corporate setting.
  • Ideally 1-2 years of experience in a corporate M&A department, private equity setting or in a management consultancy capacity within life science industry.
  • You have previous experience from either life-science or pharmaceutical industry, if not from in-house then as consultant on life-science / pharmaceutical clients understanding the dynamic of the industry.
