Maersk line is looking for a Senior Operations Research Analyst / Business Rule Engineer who will ensure that the decision support system being delivered to Maersk Line Operations through the project Dynamic NeT makes the right decisions at the right times through the use of business rules.
Dynamic NeT is bringing mathematical optimisation to Maersk Line Operations to facilitate better and faster decision-making and the business rules will in part be implemented as part of the optimisation and in part as simpler rules directly in the applications.
You will be part of the Business Value team who ensures that Dynamic NeT delivers business value. Your team mates will to a large extend consist of the Product Owners that own the applications within Dynamic NeT. You will be working closely with them as well as with peers, business specialists and managers, and software developers to develop world class IT tools for Maersk Line Operations that will optimize the usage of the world’s largest container vessel network.

Reporting to the Senior Programme Lead in Dynamic NeT, the position offers a unique opportunity to impact the digital transformation in Maersk Line Operations through your expertise with translating business rules into mathematical models and optimisation to solve business problems.
The Business Value team is responsible for ensuring that the IT functionalities and processes delivered as part of the project deliver value to the business.
We offer a position where you combine your knowledge of mathematical optimisation and prototyping with a sound understand of how business rules should be implemented. The implementation of business rules is part of a greater drive towards providing consistency to our customers through the automation of decision making.
While an individual contributor role, the incumbent will play a significant part in setting the agenda for the group of business rule engineers and ensuring that everybody is working in the same direction.
You will be working in an international environment at Maersk Line’s headquarter in Copenhagen where you will be part of E2E Delivery in Maersk Line Operations.

As a Senior Operations Research Analyst / Business Rule Engineer, you will be responsible for driving the interactions with the business to understand the rules that govern or should govern decision-making, translating the derived rules into mathematics and developing prototypes that can be used by the optimization and technology teams when developing the decision support system.
You will be responsible for testing the suggested business rules before implementation and analyse the business outcomes to ensure we are achieving the outcome expected by the business.
When the business rule to be implemented is vague, you will be responsible for analysing current behaviour and data to establish what business rule formulation would most closely mimic the current behaviour.
You will be responsible for implementing governance and at some point, ensuring that the appropriate people can themselves update the business rules when required.
You will be involved in the general developments for Dynamic NeT especially with the optimization team to ensure that the business rules developed can interact, exchange data and work from the same database.
You will have the opportunity to cooperate with leading optimisation specialists and developers within Maersk Line.
The successful candidate has a technical background with a MSc or PhD in engineering, mathematics or computer science specialising in Operations Research and preferably mathematical optimisation.
Prior experience with implementing business rules in decisions support systems including optimization models is required.
Prior experience in liner shipping or logistics is a distinct advantage.
You can translate business speak into structured rules, formulate these into mathematical models and develop prototypes which with the help of the development teams can be implemented as production ready code.
Experience with prototyping and software development is a must. An interest in learning new technologies and skills is encouraged.
Dynamic Net application is cloud based and the applications are developed using programming languages C++, Python, C# and technologies as Azure Cloud, Docker, Kubernetes.
You have the ability to work under deadlines and are capable of delivering in increments.
The project is running agile using scrum mechanics to govern the setup and ceremonies.
You have good communication and interpersonal skills enabling you to work in a team and with external stakeholders.
You are able to work with all levels within the company to understand the business context.
Proficiency in both written and oral English is a must.
