As part of the Decarbonisation Business Development team, you will be responsible for working with external partners around the globe to drive the implementation of our green methanol projects to successful completion, so that green methanol can be supplied to our expanding fleet of methanol fuelled container vessels.
In 2018, Maersk launched a vision of having net-zero CO2 emissions from operations by 2050 (https://youtu.be/2XBO_ZULmAk). Since then we have accelerated our climate action and recently we announced that we will buy 8 large container vessels that will be fueled by green methanol. We are now in the process of making agreements with several potential future suppliers of methanol. In short, in this role you will play a crucial role in make these green fuel projects a success.

We are looking for an experienced project manager who is passionate about our decarbonisation journey and has the knowledge, curiosity, and experience to help us achieve our goals.
By being part of the Business Development team driving project implementation of our green methanol projects, you will:
• Drive the execution of a portfolio of green methanol development projects together with external project developers/suppliers
• Ensure project execution according to supply contract, reporting on milestones and other internal reporting
• Day-to-day project follow up and contact with project developer and progress monitoring
• Engage in problem solving together with external partners during the project execution
• Engage and mobilise relevant internal functions to support effective project execution (e.g. Regulatory, Legal, Procurement, etc.).
• Maintain cost model for projects and engage in cost optimization of projects in portfolio.

As a Senior Business Development Manager, you have been part of the successful development/execution of larger industrial projects with high level of complexity – both on the technical aspects and when it comes to the stakeholder landscape.
You have a passion for solving problems and getting things done together as a team.
The following would be beneficial in the role but is not a must
• Strong project management competencies, preferably for technical and/or construction projects
• Proven track record of successful project execution
• Able to handle a portfolio of projects in different stages
• Basic technical understanding, e.g. chemical engineering knowledge
• Can handle risks and uncertainties for projects involving new technology and new ways of doing business
• Thrives working in a team and handling many stakeholders with conflicting interests
• Strong skills in communication and stakeholder management to build strong relations with the project developers - able to handle and resolve conflicts constructively
• An advanced degree, e.g. in engineering or business administration
Candidates are expected to have at least 5-10 years of relevant professional experience.
