The Business Development Lead is a strategic role within the commercial track of DFDS Direct with the key objective of building and maintaining demand for DFDS Direct.
Leverage and grow your business development skills to build a digital business
This job is a unique opportunity to help build a new digital business from within DFDS’s Logistics division and to further develop business development and strategic skills as well as relation to DFDS’s Executive Management Team.
As Business Development Lead you will be a centerpiece in building a digital business in Logistics, which is the future of the Transport and Logistics industry. At the same time, you will work in an Agile, start-up-like environment. In this process you will develop a commercial and strategy toolbox for building a digital business as well as entrepreneurial skills.
The team is a diverse team from DFDS’s Logistics and Technology & Innovation divisions that works very closely with the Logistics VP of BU Nordics. It provides updates to the Venture Board every other month, which includes the CEO, EVP of Logistics and CTO and to Logistics management on a quarterly basis, which includes the Logistics EVP and all Logistics VPs. You will be collaborating with your manager and peers in an open communication form and in the acknowledgement that everybody brings their own personality, experience, and skills to the table with a passion for building DFDS Direct.
Main responsibilities
The Business Development Lead will work in close collaboration with the Head of DFDS Direct with the following main responsibilities:
In addition to this, the Business Development Lead will present plans and results to the Venture Board, collaborate with DFDS central marketing team to run digital marketing campaigns, take on ad-hoc operational tasks, e.g. for customer acquisition and follow-up, and contribute to setting DFDS Direct overall strategic direction.
Your profile
We imagine you have 2 to 5 years of experience in top-tier management consulting or in a digital business development role. You are a strategic thinker with a commercial mindset, and you are comfortable with complex data analyses and digital tools. You are also willing to take on hands-on tasks, such as calling customers to win new business when necessary, and you have the start-up mindset that you will sometimes need to pick up tasks outside your job role. You have strong communication skills including at executive level. Experience working in Logistics and knowledge of the Transport and Logistics Technology business landscape is a plus.
We are looking for an outgoing person with a passion for building a digital business. Also, you should be willing to learn and adapt as strategic priorities may evolve based on new insights and stakeholder input.

- Grow DFDS Direct organically by increasing and maintaining online demand from new and current customers e.g. by leveraging digital marketing and data, determining key customer needs and providing input to product development
- Grow DFDS Direct inorganically by determining and utilizing new digital channels, e.g. through partnerships/acquisitions of freight marketplaces or Logistics SW providers identified through market research and competitive analysis
- Support DFDS Direct pricing strategy and implementation, e.g. by determining market pricing and by providing data-driven input to prioritization of the DFDS Direct pricing system development
