Define ontologies in research projects at Milestone and in industry standardization efforts
Your overall mission is to contribute to development of new software products and features that will set new standards for what is possible to do with video software. We simply see the sky as the limit. You will play your important role by contribute to the collaborative definition of ontologies; both within research projects at Milestone and in industry standardization efforts.
In overview your primary tasks will be to:
- Define ontologies across research projects and standardization efforts
- Set new standards for others to follow – in collaboration with external partners
- Analyze the security and safety domain as well as particular applications
Your new workplace will be the Milestone headquarters in Greater Copenhagen when not working from home, flexibility is naturally highly prioritized and part of the company strategy. Travelling will be approx. 10-15 days per year to European destinations.
Evangelist with knowledge across RDF, OWL and basic programming
As our primary ontology expert, a vital part of your road to success will be founded on your ability to socialise the many benefits within ontology and knowledge management, internally as well as externally. As such, you must thrive in a role where you proactively connect, build relations and collaborate with many different people. That you work analytically and systematically we take for granted, your profession taken into consideration. Additionally, your CV comprises:
- Minimum a Master’s degree in which ontology engineering or knowledge management has been taught and applied
- Knowledge of the data model of the W3C Resource Description Framework (RDF)
- Knowledge of the definition of schemas/ontologies in the W3C RDF Schema language and/or the Web Ontology Language (OWL)
- At least a basic understanding of software development in at least one modern programming language (Java, C#, python, Go, etc.)
- Motivation to develop your skills in the use of JSON(-LD) for APIs, as well as the W3C Shapes Constraint Language (SHACL)

You will join 15 highly committed and competent colleagues in Milestone’s Research department and collaborate with 5 PhD students in the Milestone Research Programme at Aalborg University.
