User Experience Researcher to leading global tech company
Do you want to influence and shape the role of product research in Milestone?
At Milestone you will join a leading, global provider of IP Video Management Systems, and your work will directly make a positive difference for our users across the world, from professional control room operators to shop owners. You will unfold your skills in a very well-functioning team where trust, support, knowledge sharing, and room for having a good time together are key components.
Provide user knowledge that is needed for making best-in-class software solutions
Your job is to find out what we need to make our users happy and more efficient when they work with our products and when we are exploring new features. As a UX Researcher you will provide the knowledge of how our users work with our software and what they would like to be able to do with it. You will conduct different types of research, exploring the behaviors and needs of our users through field visits, interviews, ethnography, usability testing, and surveys. Your primary tasks will be to:
- Identify and plan the research needed to form short- and long-term product vision goals
- Conduct independent research and related analysis across our different products and experiences
- Provide expert recommendations and options to solutions that resolve the customer needs you identify
- Work with designers, product owners, product managers and others to prioritize research opportunities
- Validate that our design goals are met via usability and benchmark studies
- Advocate your research findings to diverse audiences through written documentation and in-person presentations, internally and externally
To succeed, you must understand and incorporate technical and business requirements into your research and ensure our design goals are aligned with end-user needs and are clearly defined. You can look forward to approximately 15-25 travel days per year in non-COVID times, primarily to customer sites in Europe and the US. In the meantime, remote research methods will be used to gather insights.
Who we are looking for:
Overall, we are looking for a team player with energy, humor, and creativity who shares our passion for what great technology and design can do for our customers. As we strongly believe that the best results are based on trust and personal empowerment, you must be able to plan and drive your own tasks. Since your results are derived from observations and dialogue with people you should enjoy engaging with all kinds of people, and you must be able to tailor your communication to your audience. Additionally, your CV comprises of:
- A degree in Anthropology, Human Factors, Psychology, HCI/Computer Science or related
- 1-5 years of experience from working in the field of UX research. We welcome applications from junior level and upwards, with a salary relative to experience. [LW1]
- Experience conducting semi-structured interviews, contextual field visits, usability studies, heuristic evaluations, and user surveys
- A track record of influencing product and service designs and directions based on end-user needs
- Strong understanding of the strengths and shortcomings of different research methods – including when and how to apply them during the product development process
- Experience in independently creating research plans in response to overall product strategy
- Experience in organizing and sharing end-user insights effectively in a large development organization with many stakeholders
- Professional fluency in English, written and spoken
