About the department The Translational Medicine department is located within Translational Development under the umbrella of Global Translation, Research and Early Development at Novo Nordisk. As part of the corporate global R&D strategy, the Translational Medicine department has a focus on the development and deployment of pharmacodynamic biomarkers in Phase 1 trials together with prospective stop/go criteria to facilitate data-driven decision-making. We work in multi-disciplinary teams to ensure translational medicine biomarkers are integral from the earliest research experiments through to early clinical studies. Our commitment is to build a presence and differentiated pipeline with an increased probability of success and to the benefit of patients. In Global Translation, we span across the entire Novo Nordisk value chain. We follow the projects from early research to late-stage clinical development and all the way to the market. The position As Principal Translational Medicine Scientist you will lead the Translational Biomarker Team and represent Global Translation in global project teams. You will work in partnership with the Translational Biomarker Team in the qualification of biomarkers and development of clinically deployable assays and become the scientific and strategic driver responsible for implementing high-quality actionable biomarker plans in clinical trials. A key element is bridging the molecular mechanistic understanding at the target level with human disease knowledge whilst maintaining a focus on operational feasibility. As a senior member of the team, you will also play a key supporting role in the development of a growing department and the implementation of translational medicine as a discipline to increase innovation at Novo Nordisk. The position is based in Måløv, Denmark. Qualifications You hold a PhD and/or MD with 5+ years of experience in biotech or a pharma company. You have several years of translational experience bridging preclinical and clinical. We see it as an advantage if you have a scientific background in metabolic and/or cardiovascular disease. We are looking for a candidate with these qualifications:
  • Track record in the strategic development and implementation of pharmacodynamic biomarkers during the drug development process.
  • Pioneering attitude to increase innovation in clinical development and develop differentiated products to meet the unmet medical need of future patients.
  • Dynamic self-starter capable of proactively leading biomarker sub-teams.
