We are looking for a dedicated Associate Scientist to join our Skeletal Muscle & Pancreas Biology department. If this is you, then apply today for a life changing career! The position The Associate Scientist will work closely with experienced scientists to drive all aspects of the daily activities in the in vitro biology lab. This ranges from supporting projects with high quality in vitro data or helping validate novel drug targets to supporting the development new in vitro methodologies within pancreatic islet or cultured beta cells.Duties and responsibilities will include: · Using aseptic techniques to culture and expand cells. · Performing various molecular biology and cell culture techniques with high accuracy. · Supporting development of new in vitro models and maintaining laboratory supplies and operations. · Contributing to design of experiments and data interpretation and keeping accurate and detailed records of experimental work and data. · Reading scientific literature to contextualize and inform the research questions. · Working collaboratively with different stakeholders in a matrix organisation. QualificationsMaster’s degree or similar education with a strong experimental background in pancreatic islet biology.The ideal candidate has: · 1-3 years of relevant experience in a life science wet/cell culture laboratory. · Experience in methodologies to study pancreatic islets and/or cultured beta cells. · Experience with protein detection techniques such as enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and Western blot. · Experience in histological studies, fluorescence imaging and RNA isolation and quantitative PCR is an advantage. · Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. · Ability to work independently and function within a collaborative environment.On a personal level, you are collaborative, team player, highly motivated and driven with ability to thrive in a fast-paced innovative research environment. About the department The department is anchored in the Diabetes and Obesity research area within Global Drug Discovery (GDD), Novo Nordisk A/S. As part of Novo Nordisk’s strategy within chronic metabolic diseases, we are focusing on target identification, target validation and pre-clinical characterisation of new assets to become novel treatment options for patients living with cardiometabolic diseases. In close collaboration with our colleagues across GDD, we are working in an organ-centric and disease agnostic manner to develop, characterise and utilize in vitro tools to elucidate mode-of-action and profiling of novel biology and molecules for early evaluation of drug candidates.
