The position In this role, you will oversee, guide and develop experts within protein and peptide chemistry. Solid-phase peptide synthesis and chemical modification of recombinant proteins and peptides lie at the heart of the department. The department prepares innovative compounds for all therapy areas of Novo Nordisk, relying on state-of-the-art discovery capabilities, IPR insights, and world-leading competencies in protein and peptide drug discovery. The department is involved in many exciting projects from the Novo Nordisk pipeline, where cross functional collaboration is of key importance. As a leader you proactively identify synergies and foster collaborations within and outside the organization. Your responsibilities include: Lead and inspire a team of scientists and laboratory technicians Allocate resources to research projects in accordance with corporate strategic priorities Have dedicated focus on the personal development of each employee in the department Foster a curiosity driven innovation culture in Research Chemistry Support optimal cross-functional collaboration across the organization Build an open culture, where all employees feel valued and thrive You will become part of a dedicated management team where you will participate in setting the strategic direction for the area Research Chemistry. Qualifications To thrive and succeed in the role, we expect you to have: A Ph.D. in organic chemistry, chemical biology, or relevant biopharmaceutical science At least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably from the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry Strong leadership background with an evident commitment to creating successful teams with a focus on continuous people development Proven track record within research chemistry, as evidenced by publications/patents and an international network within the field Proactive and visible leadership style and ability to set meaningful and clear directions in a complex environment with many stakeholders Additionally, as a person, you thrive in a highly collaborative environment and excel at communicating across all organisational levels, functions, and cultures. You also show a high level of personal engagement, drive, independence, and integrity. About the department The Research Chemistry area is a central part of Global Research Technologies with employees in Måløv (Copenhagen area), DK and Boston, MA. This department works closely with the other departments in Research Chemistry and together they are responsible for the generation of synthetic peptides and modified proteins to sustain a portfolio of oral and injectable biologics, and other molecular modalities, across the entire Novo Nordisk research portfolio. We aspire to drive innovation by applying a curiosity-driven mindset and openness to new technologies and deep chemistry expertise. The department consists of a total of 16 scientists and lab technicians.
