Business Development Manager - Energy Trading and Energy Data Management Software Solutions
Location: UK or Europe
About the Role
The Business Development Manager is a strategic role in Hansen related to HansenTrade and HansenEDM products. The products are used for automated power trading and therefore the role involves close working with energy companies operating in wholesale power markets.
The role requires understanding of wholesale power trading business in European power markets. With knowledge, expertise and experience, the Business Development Manager engages potential customers by demonstrating solutions to trading related business processes, including e.g. automated trading and EDM solutions. Your activities will also include taking ownership of client relationships and ensuring that client’s technical requirements are captured and an overall high-level technical solution is identified.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities
You are accomplished in the delivery of functional product demonstrations for energy companies
- Ability to understand power trading related business problems and demonstrate how Hansen solutions solve the problems
- Present complex, technical solution & architectural concepts to key decision makers to address their business challenges
- Enabling Hansen to develop market-leading trading solutions for energy companies
- Compiling RFI/RFx responses & bid management of large solution proposals
- Identifying potential customers for Hansen’s trading solutions
- Ensure that proposals are technically sound, deliverable, competitive and representative of market leadership in the application of technology to addressing business issues
- Present compelling Hansen solutions whilst supporting strong partner relationships
- Comfortable working with large top tier prospects across the globe either onsite or remote
- Lead requirements, architecture, design, and workshop sessions with prospects and with use of internal resources
- Stay up to date on emerging technologies, products, and industry trends, including attaining certifications and participation in industry events as appropriate including white papers and speaking engagements
- Bring new ideas and methodologies to improve the Pre-Sales organisation
- Provide product input on features and functionality, in conjunction with Product Management
Essential Competencies
- A solid work background in physical power trading - at least 2 years of hand-on experience in day-ahead, intraday and ancillary markets
- Understanding of wholesale energy business processes (forecasts, trades, market communication, balance settlement etc...)
- Experience of power generation / consumption / battery asset optimization (production costs, water value modelling, ramping limitations etc...)
- Proven experience working with customers in a consulting role, driving requirements capture and documentation using a User Case oriented approach
- Understanding of the technical side of trading process (communication channels, interfaces etc…)
- Flexible, dynamic, creative, and a quick learner
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to influence internal resources and customers to achieve successful results
- Outstanding problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to achieve challenging goals and objectives
- Able to develop strong cross-cultural business relationships; team player
