On behalf of Ballard Power Systems Europe A/S, Randstad is looking for a strong, dedicated, and self-driven Market Development Manager to facilitate the commercialization of their fuel cell technology in the German-speaking countries and Eastern Europe.
Ballard Power Systems is the leading global provider of clean energy and fuel cell solutions.
Understanding and influencing the market design, dynamics, and demand are key to Ballard to succeed in each of their key market segments and geographies, especially when introducing a new technology into well-established industries and markets.

In Europe, Ballard’s focus is on the following key markets: Bus, Truck, Rail, Marine and Critical Communication Infrastructure. These key markets in Europe are in different stages of maturity, and the market maturity varies from region to region depending on the market conditions and design.
The focus of Ballard´s new Market Development Manager is to lead their market development efforts in the key markets through understanding, engaging, and influencing stakeholders and the eco system and generate market demand for their products and solutions.

The Market Development Manager reports to the Director of Strategy & Market Development in Europe and will be working with many internal and external stakeholders.
The position is based in Germany, but you can expect that approx. 25% of your time will be required for travelling, both to partners and conferences throughout Europe, as well as to the European headquarters in Denmark and to Ballard’s corporate headquarters in Vancouver, Canada.

Responsibilities


The key responsibility of the Market Development Manager is to develop and execute a solid market development plan for the key markets.

Key tasks include:
• Project financing, TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) calculations and business case modelling.
• Foster large scale vehicle deployment projects through eco-systems partnerships (to develop an attractive economic value proposition and form strategic alliances with industrial partners to accelerate commercialization of fuel cell technologies).
• Build market game plans and report on market development progress to the commercial team.
• Participate as Ballard’s representative in the development and execution of large-scale deployment projects and ensuring the internal coordination and alignment around these projects.
• Make sure end-users understand and believe in the value proposition of our technology through awareness campaigns and end-customers meetings to generate demand for fuel cell powered applications.
• Manage relationships with: End-users, eco-system stakeholders, consultants, financing partners and industry associations.

Qualifications


• Business related degree (MBA or an engineering degree is an asset).
• 8+ years of proven successful experience in a similar role or as a consultant.
• Can analyze and understand different industries and markets, the geopolitical and macro-economic conditions, market dynamics, drivers, trends and barriers.
• Strong financial modelling skills.
• Solid experience in partnerships and alliances management and how they can create value for the business.
• A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
• Fluent in German and English – other European languages are an advantage.
