Our Animal In Vitro Research department at Novonesis is looking for a committed and skilled Senior Research Scientist with a passion for microbiology, probiotics discovery, and gut microbiology. Naturally you will also need a strong personal drive, curiosity and excellent communication skills.

As part of Animal Biosolutions Applied Research, Animal In Vitro Research focuses on product development and innovation that is based on scientific understanding of the mode of action, application and industry knowledge – all in close collaboration with core R&D, marketing and other stakeholders.

In this role you’ll make an impact by:

This role allows you to work on new product development and life-cycle management projects in close collaboration with research teams and marketing. You will develop assays for screening in applied conditions, intestinal tract in vitro simulations and provide mode of action understanding.

You are a strong team player who engages proactively with the broader organization, translates business and customer needs into products, and you have the ability to adapt to changing needs in projects and beyond.

To succeed you must hold:

• A Ph.D. in Microbiology or Master’s degree with 5 years of experience working with microbiology/bacteria
• A strong microbiology foundation and experience with applied molecular microbiology or clinical microbiology
• Experience with Animal science or knowledge about agricultural industry will be an advantage
• Experience in experimental data collecting, processing, statistical analysis and visualization (Benchling, Excel, SAS/JMP, PowerBI, Power automate)
• Knowledge in scripting/programming and bioinformatics (e.g. SAS/JMP,-JSL, Python/R, SQL, bash)
• Preferably experience with liquid handlers and automation
• Strong communication skills, an open-minded positive attitude, and a desire to achieve results together with others
