Experimental high energy physics at CERN and SLAC
Starting Date and Period
Starting date is November 1st 2021 or sometime thereafter. The employment ends 30th June 2024.
The successful candidate will contribute to performing experimental high energy physics at CERN and SLAC, and will be studying strong field effects in classical and quantum electrodynamics. The successful candidate is expected to participate in all stages: idea generation, setup planning, equipment preparation and testing, experiment execution, data analysis, as well as writing and submission of scientific papers.
Your Profile
Applicants must hold a PhD degree in physics or similar fields at the starting date of the appointment. Previous experience within the field is advantageous: it is advantageous that the successful candidate has experience with 1) writing simulation codes, preferably also with CUDA, for the treatment of electrons and positrons in both strong crystalline and strong laser fields, 2) setting up and executing experiments at facilities like CERN or SLAC, 3) data analysis and 4) writing of scientific papers.
The successful candidate will participate in the CERN NA63 and SLAC E-320 collaborations, as part of the group of Prof. U. Uggerhøj.
A good working environment, and plenty of freedom in choosing the focus of research within the overall description of the position.

Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.

Natural Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.
