The Department of Bioscience, Aarhus University, invites applications for a position as full professor within the field of evolutionary genetics. The position is available as soon as possible.

Requirements
We seek an internationally competitive researcher with a strong and competitive academic track record in evolutionary genetics. The candidate is expected to target important research topics in evolutionary biology using state-of-the-art and interdisciplinary approaches. The applicant is expected to establish a research group and develop a topical research program within evolutionary genetics at the Section for Genetics, Ecology and Evolution and the Department of Bioscience. Furthermore, the applicant is expected to establish collaboration with related research environments at Aarhus University, and to document established relations with research groups within the field internationally. A strong publication record, documented experience in attracting external funding, and documented experience with teaching and supervision of students at undergraduate and graduate levels are required. We expect the candidate to participate in course activities at both undergraduate and graduate level, and to contribute to the development of PhD courses.

The Department of Bioscience
The Department of Bioscience hosts research programmes, teaching curricula and consultancy that cover all major biological sub-disciplines. The Department conducts world-class research in the areas of Aquatic Biology and Ecology, Arctic Environment and Ecosystems, Biodiversity and Conservation Biology, Genetics and Evolution, Microbiology, and Zoophysiology. The Department currently employs approximately 350 academic and technical staff and 75 PhD students. In addition to the PhD-programme, BSc and MSc study programmes with close to 500 students enrolled are offered.

Application procedure
Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the assessment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. The selection is made on the basis of an assessment of who of the candidates are most relevant considering the requirements of the advertisement. All applicants will be notified within 6 weeks whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee and will receive his/her assessment. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants, including the main considerations emphasized during the selection process.

Science and Technology refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
