Ballerup

If you have extensive experience with quantitative biomarker analyses from pre-clinical or clinical assay work, and you are looking for a job with impact and exciting scientific challenges, then this may be just the right job for you.

LEO Pharma has set the ambitious goal to be pioneering in dermatology and become the world’s preferred dermatology care partner. You can play a significant role in making this vision come true. You will join a successful, global company and contribute to our common goal of improving the lives for people around the world who live with a medical skin condition.

About you

You have a strong and proven track record building and validating immunoassays for biomarker and exposure analysis such as ELISA and MSD, and you have a solid experience with measuring free, drug bound, and total analytes. Furthermore, you have deep understanding of how in vivo pharmacology studies can support progression of early drug discovery projects. You have a strategic mindset, and you feel at home in multidisciplinary research teams where you actively engage and contribute scientifically, both within and beyond your own area of expertise. Importantly, you have a can-do-attitude, are self-driven and ambitious, and thrive in a collaborative environment.

About us

The Histology & Biomarkers team consists of 8 highly skilled scientists and technicians. We are responsible for delivering biomarker analyses and exposure data on preclinical in vivo pharmacology studies for efficacy testing of new drug candidates. A key responsibility of the team is to develop and validate novel protein assays to enable advanced PK/PD understanding in our in vivo models. Additionally, we support the entire drug development chain with histology. Our team is characterized by high adaptability and a collaborative and knowledge sharing mindset.

The team is part of the In Vivo Biology & Safety department, which is responsible for preclinical in vivo pharmacology studies as well as early safety assessment of new drug candidates. We work with rodent models of inflammatory skin conditions and all teams contribute with their expertise to validate new drug targets and predict clinical efficacious dose in collaboration with all of Research.

Your role will be to:

  • Define and plan preclinical biomarker strategy and deliverables for research projects
  • Build robust assays for PK/PD studies incl. drug exposure and target occupancy
  • Plan, perform, quality control, and communicate biomarker analyses (incl. protein biomarkers, RNA analysis and flow cytometry) on preclinical in vivo studies
  • Identify and implement new assay technologies
  • Take responsibility for assay development at CROs
  • Actively engage in multidisciplinary project teams and lead subteams
  • Contribute to our biological understanding of inflammatory skin diseases
  • Help promote a culture of innovation and curiosity, while maintaining accountability and timely delivering high quality scientific data

We expect as a minimum

  • PhD in life sciences
  • 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry or equivalent, with thorough understanding of the drug discovery process and biomarker analysis
  • Extensive experience with building and validating complex immunoassays, such as ELISA and MSD, for measurement of total and free analytes in different matrixes is a prerequisite
  • Capabilities within RNA analysis such as qPCR and RNAseq
  • Experience with flow cytometry and histology will be an advantage
  • Ability to analyze complex issues and engage in timely and thoughtful decision making
  • Experience in immunology and diseases driven by inflammatory processes is highly preferred
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • It will be considered an advantage if you have worked with both biologics and small molecule drugs

As expertise within building and validating immunoassays is a prerequisite for this position, please elaborate on your experience within assay development in your application.

For further information, please contact Senior Team Leader Josephine Hebsgaard (+45 3147 6192).

Applications will be evaluated when received, so please apply as soon as possible, and no later than November 15th 2020.
