About you:


You have a strong and proven track record within drug discovery and extensive experience of gene manipulation using different state of the art technologies, such as CRISPR and oligonucleotides. Furthermore, you have a deep understanding of the supporting studies needed to develop and progress a successful gene therapy product. You feel at home in a multidisciplinary and international team and take active part in scientific discussion, both within and beyond your areas of expertise. Together with an explorative mindset you combine practical knowhow with deep understanding to explore gene functions and regulations in various models. As a scientist, you are curious by nature and thrive in exploring the unknown, with a positive and constructive attitude and scientific rigor.

About us:


The Regenerative Medicine Team is a small, highly specialised and pioneering team within the Advanced Biologics Department at LEO Pharma. We are responsible for characterizing, exploring and developing novel drug modalities with a vision to cure rare skin diseases. Part of this task is to explore and develop novel gene modified models in close collaboration with the other teams at LEO Pharma, but also with external collaborators, that can be used to develop gene therapies for rare disorders of the skin. Our international team is characterized by a collaborative and knowledge sharing mentality, in an open and informal working atmosphere.

Your role will be to:


  • Define and plan preclinical strategy and deliverables for research projects within gene therapy
  • Identify and implement new assay technologies
  • Take responsibility for assay development at CROs
  • Responsible for running some experiments in-house
  • Actively engage in cross functional teams and lead subprojects
  • Provide strategic input and technical guidance on projects and closely collaborate with key stakeholders within LEO Pharma and external partners
  • Identify and stay updated on trends and state-of-the-art gene manipulation technologies and introduce relevant novel opportunities
  • Promote and engage in scientific discussions across the research area
  • Help promote a culture of exploration and collaboration while maintaining accountability, scientific rigor and timely progression of own tasks.

We expect as a minimum:


  • PhD in biology, biomedicine or relevant field
  • 5 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry or equivalent, with deep understanding of drug discovery process of gene therapy products
  • Broad experience in cell biology and deep understanding of gene manipulation technologies
  • Experience with either oligo- and/or gene-therapy
  • Extensive experience with building gene modified models
  • Ability to analyze complex issues and engage in timely and thoughtful decision making
  • A strong team player, who easily builds and maintains both internal and external relationships
  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency in written and spoken English.
