The Research group for Engineering Education at DTU Engineering Technology seeks an engaged and ambitious candidate for a Ph.D. project on exploring engineering didactics as a field of research.
This project will contribute to the Department's overall strategy of establishing a national research environment for developing engineering didactics and pedagogy.
The aim of the project is to study the impact of self-efficacy on the retention for Bachelor of Engineering students. Furthermore to investigate how students' self-efficacy can be strengthened through learning activities with use of formative feedback and group work etc. In addition this project will contribute with retention strategies.
The project will be carried in collaboration between DTU Engineering Technology and DTU Food.
Responsibilities and qualifications
We are looking for an ambitious candidate for a Ph.D. project (3 years full-time) to focus on how to strengthen self-efficacy among Bachelor of Engineering students. We expect the candidate is able to perform relevant research using a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods and to extend collaboration with key academic partners within and outside DTU during the Ph.D. project.
If you are interested in working in an environment with focus on practice-oriented research, and if you are curious about exploring what affects students self-efficacy and motivation, you might be our new Ph.D. student.
You must have a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree.
In addition we expect you to have basic knowledge on quantitative and qualitative research methods, data science and the ability to work systematically.
Approval and Enrolment
The scholarship for the PhD degree is subject to academic approval, and the candidate will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes at DTU. For information about our enrolment requirements and the general planning of the PhD study programme, please see the DTU PhD Guide.
