In Global Manufacturing Science And Technology (MSAT) you will get the opportunity to make a significant difference for people with serious skin diseases all over the world. Global MSAT is part of Global Product Supply and counts approx. 80 persons in seven departments situated in Ballerup, Italy, France and Ireland.


The job


You will be part of the newly established and growing Global MSAT Biologics Drug Substances (DS) department where you will actively participate in building up new competences mainly oriented towards downstream within biologics DS.

In Global MSAT Biologics DS we offer an interesting opportunity to use your expert knowledge and experiences within Antibodies downstream process in development and commercial manufacture. We have just recently taken projects over from our R&D organization and started leading scientific support to our new marketed biological products in which you will be part of our journey in a dynamic environment and will be able to impact our ways of working.

Our antibodies DS are manufactured externally at CMO´s or strategical partners.

You will play a central role in leading scientific aspects of our antibodies processes mainly downstream. You will interact with various stakeholders both internal in global MSAT, R&D, quality, regulatory affairs, external manufacturing and with external partners.


Your primary tasks will be:


  • Global Scientific Process Owner of downstream DS processes of LEO Pharma Biologics marketed products
  • Development of downstream DS strategies for LEO Pharma Biologics products and responsible for execution of projects in relation to the strategies
  • Support integration of Biologics products DS for downstream process in Global MSAT
  • Leading/active role in cross-functional activities for downstream process for future Biologics DS currently in late-stage development phase
  • Act as downstream DS Subject Matter Expert (SME) and collaborate closely with external Partners and CMO´s
  • Ensure that downstream DS processes of Biologics products full fill regulatory requirements
  • Accountable for Life Cycle Management activities on downstream DS Biologics products

Your qualifications


  • Educational background of Ph.D. or Master of Science e.g., Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Engineering, Pharmacist
  • 10 years’ experience within production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) manufacturing operations
  • 10 years’ experience with R&D & GMP for downstream process in pharma production
  • Demonstrate strong batch record within downstream process development in late-stage and production stages
  • Comprehensive experience in writing & updating regulatory module 3 documentation and giving scientific input to answering questions from Health Authorities
  • Experience in supporting commercial DS productions e.g., root cause investigation, risk assessments
  • Large experience managing various stakeholders both internal across different organizations and external CMO’s & strategical partners
  • Effective communication skills and are proficient in English – both spoken and written, Danish is an advantage

Your new team


You will be based at the LEO headquarters in Ballerup, Greater Copenhagen and will join a team of four highly skilled, dedicated and enthusiastic specialists who primarily work on our small molecule new manufacturing facility but who will in the near future move towards biologics products. Our focus is to provide scientific lead for all Biologics marketed products in LEO Pharma. Collaboration with our external partners/CMO’s occurs mainly virtual but you can expect 1-2 travels per year if needed.
