The Department of Food Science at the University of Copenhagen (UCPH FOOD) invites applications for a position as Research Assistant in Food Microbiology from 15 May 15 to 14 December 2020 on different research projects financed by EU and Innovation fund Denmark.
At UCPH FOOD we carry out research and education that help to solve the global challenges in relation to food, and we combine the latest research and practice in the training of our students. Food is an interdisciplinary area of strength at the University of Copenhagen and the department is internationally recognized for excellence in food science research and education, and strong industrial collaboration. It is an international workplace with English as primary working language. The section of Food Microbiology and Fermentation has focus on dairy and food fermentations, food quality, safety and hygiene as well as gut microbiota interaction with food compounds and health. Thesectionconducts both basic and applied research and there is an extensive collaboration with the dairy, food and ingredient industries. We have at our disposal various pilot plant facilities and advanced analytical infrastructure.

Job description
The main task is to finalize on-going activities in the area of pathogen survival and growth in association with consumer and hospital patient food safety. The job will both involve experimental work, development of HACCP plans and scientific reporting. Experience in working with pathogens and challenge studies in food is required as well as the ability to perform independent data handling and reporting.
Terms of employment
The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.
Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.
