Assistant Professor of Health Design, Department of Geosciences and Natural Resource Management, Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen
The Section for Landscape Architecture and Planning (IGN), University of Copenhagen, invites applications for a 4-year position as Assistant Professor of Health Design. We seek candidates to perform excellent teaching, communication and research in evidence-based health design within landscape architecture. The position is placed within the interdisciplinary research group Nature, Health & Design, which conduct research within a wide range of research trends on interactions between human health and the natural environment. The research group runs a full-scale laboratory, located in the Hoersholm arboretum, called Nature, Health & Design Lab. The lab. currently consists of two settings, Nacadia® therapy garden and Octovia® health forest. In 2021 a third setting will be constructed in relation to the project ‘Move Green’, to which the position will be connected. The research group’s research expertise provides evidence to guide policy makers, city planners, landscape architects, therapists and other health professionals in translating gained knowledge into practice.

The successful candidate has a creative mind-set, a strong interest for teaching and communication and relevant research record. Practical and/or research experience of evidence-based design and universal design and in-depth knowledge on nature- and human health relations are desirable qualifications. Moreover, good interpersonal and communicative skills required for team work across disciplines and with partners are necessary, as well as ability to work independently and deliver project activities within deadlines.
The assistant professor’s duties will primarily include research, including obligations with regard to publication/scientific communication and research-based teaching with associated examination obligations within evidence-based health design in landscape architecture. To a limited extent this may also include performance of other duties.
Assessment of applicants will primarily consider their level of documented, internationally competitive research.
