We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic researcher for a two-year period for a vaccine project financed by the Innovations fund Denmark. The start date is 1 September 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The research carried out by the postdoc fellow relates to experimental and field testing of vaccines against post weaning diarrhoea in piglets. The specific tasks are within microbiological and pathological aspects of gut health in vaccinated and unvaccinated pigs. The project is hosted by Section for Veterinary and Clinical Microbiology. This includes basic as well as applied research into resistance development, alternatives to antibiotic treatment and preventive measures, such as vaccines. Currently, the research group consists of 12 scientists and PhD students.
Your job
The research should have focus on how well vaccination protects the pigs against diarrhoea in the post weaning period, and how this is dependent on the way vaccination is done. Scoring of protection will require clinical, as well as microbiological and pathological skills, and it includes handling of experimental animals and pigs in real stables. As a postdoc in the group, we expect that you get involved in other project in the group where your skills can be useful, and we are looking for a person with a wish to interact with PhD students and be an inspiration for them.
