Tasks
In this project, bio-nanotechnological tools are explored to facilitate foliar uptake and utilization of essential plant nutrients. This includes studying processes controlling the interaction between nutrient-loaded nanoparticles and plant cells at the molecular level. Specifically, state-of-the-art bio-imaging techniques are employed to investigate how nanoparticles interact with plant cell walls and the plasma membrane. This involves working with plant single-cell cultures and protoplasts. In addition, nanoparticle surface modifications and reagents are assessed to manipulate cell wall and plasma membrane properties.

Applicants with the following professional and personal skills will be preferred

  • Documented experience in scientific writing with publications in top-tier journals
  • Strong academic competence and in-depth knowledge of plant physiology, molecular biology, and functional properties of essential plant nutrients
  • Experience in bio-imaging techniques such as CLSM and TEM
  • Experience in plant tissue elemental analysis such as ICP-MS and LA-ICP-MS
  • Experience in foliar application of nanoparticle-encapsulated plant nutrients
  • Teaching experience
