The Research Unit of Musculoskeletal Function and Physiotherapy at the Department of Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics, University of Southern Denmark (SDU) and the PROgrez research unit at the Department of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy at Næstved, Slagelse, Ringsted hospitals invite applications for a combined position as postdoc and senior researcher to be filled from 1 March 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter and for a period of 18 months.

The successful applicant will get a 80% employment as senior researcher at the Department of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy at Næstved, Slagelse, Ringsted hospitals and a 20% employment as postdoc at the Department of Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics at the University of Southern Denmark, and will be expected to work from both Slagelse and Odense.

The position is associated with the Exercise First research program and the DREAM project. The postdoc will work with a unique set of data from a randomized controlled trial focusing on exercise therapy and surgery as treatment of meniscal injury in young adults between the ages of 18 and 40. The postdoc will get the opportunity to develop his or her own ideas as to which studies and analyses are to be conducted, but these may include uncovering treatment effects among patients with mechanical symptoms and traumatic vs non-traumatic injury.

The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to both scientific and social development of both research units and thus attend research meetings and other scientific events and take part in scientific communication, supervision and assessment tasks.

Applicants must hold a PhD degree with relevance for this research area and must have documented relevant academic experience with epidemiological and statistical methods. We welcome applicants with diverse research backgrounds, including, but not limited to physiotherapy, exercise physiology, epidemiology or medicine.

Applicants with an interest in and documented experience from any or all of the following will be prioritized:

• Knee injury
• Cohort studies or registry-based studies and regression analyses
• Exercise therapy and surgery to improve health in people with injury

The Research Unit for Musculoskeletal Function and Physiotherapy was established in 2007 and consistently has 15-20 full and part-time staff and students. The research unit is part of the Center for Muscle and Joint Health consisting of about 50 researchers from different research units at the University of Southern Denmark.

The PROgrez research unit was established in 2016 and has about 20 part-time and full-time researchers across 8 different professions.
