We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist to join the Cell Therapy Unit at the National Center for Cancer Immune Therapy (CCIT-Denmark), Department of Oncology, Herlev Hospital.

PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION

The primary focus of the Cell Therapy Scientists role will be to support the optimization of current adoptive cell therapy platform, comprising tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) and gene engineered T cells such as CAR and TCR T cells. As Cell Therapy Scientist you will support the development and transfer of cell-based technologies to GMP manufacturing. You will be actively engaged in the evaluation and implementation of these technologies, and serve as a subject matter expert for complex equipment (e.g. bio-isolators, bioreactors etc.).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Evaluate and implement cell-based technologies for clinical manufacturing.
  • Design and execute evaluation studies of new technologies.
  • Collect and trend process and new technology data.
  • Author assessments and study reports of new technologies.
  • Support the validation activities of complex equipment (e.g. bio-isolators, bioreactors etc.), and the generation of relevant SOP’s.
  • Provide training support to the Manufacturing team during tech transfer.
  • Engage with the Head of Cell Therapy Unit to drive projects to successful completion.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will have a strong foundation in human T cell biology and/or other immune cell types. Experience with implementation and optimization of a broad range of in vitro cell-based and molecular assays is critical (especially multi-color flow cytometry, cell culture and qPCR).

Required qualifications:

  • PhD degree in immunology, cell biology or related field.
  • Experience in handling and propagation of human primary T cells.
  • Demonstrated expertise with multi-parameter flow cytometry and gene expression platforms.
  • Previous experience with cell therapy products or vector products.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with analytical platforms for the characterization of T cell phenotype, differentiation, and function.
  • Experience with automated processing equipment.
  • Demonstrated independence in experimental design, data analysis, interpretation, and presentation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills that are essential in this collaborative work environment.
  • Ambitious and willing to accept temporary responsibilities outside of initial job description.

About CCIT-Denmark

The Cell Therapy Unit is a newly formed division of Department of Oncology. It unites year-long experience of manufacturing therapeutic cellular immune products to clinical testing of novel treatment modalities at the National Center for Cancer Immune Therapy (CCIT-Denmark).

Terms of employment

The position is full time and initially limited to 2 year with the possibility of extension.

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Regions (“Danske Regioner”) and the relevant professional organization. The salary depends on background, education and seniority.
