Hørsholm

Gubra is looking for a research scientist to join our rapidly growing 3D Imaging department. Using whole organ light sheet microscopy, we are working with biotech and pharma companies across the world to characterize novel drug candidates and develop the drugs of the future. If you have a background in microscopy and either neuroscience or vascular biology as well as a desire to apply this knowledge in drug development, then here is your chance to join an international team and work at the forefront of scientific discoveries in spatial biology with cutting-edge technology.

Gubra is an ambitious and innovative biotech company striving for excellence at all levels. We insist on doing things efficiently – and often differently - to reach the results we aim for. Our vision is to become leaders in the fight for a more sustainable and healthier world. We do this by facilitating the discovery of new medicine and by acting and inspiring others to fight against the ongoing climate and biodiversity crises. We have two primary areas of business: Preclinical contract research (CRO) services and Proprietary early target and drug discovery programs. We are a biotech company delivering science to our partners and to our own research projects. We are active in the so-called pre-clinical space - before drugs are tested in humans - and generate our revenue by performing research for small and large pharma companies.

The 3D Imaging department is focused on high-throughput light sheet imaging of whole organs to characterize the efficiency and mode of action of new drug candidates. With 3D imaging we visualize drug distribution in the tissue, map changes in cell signalling and gene expression and demonstrate the effect of novel drugs on disease progression in preclinical models. We are continuously developing new and more sensitive 3D imaging methods. We perform contract research for external customers and support our internal target and drug discovery programs.

Your tasks as 3D Imaging Scientist include:

  • Planning and running 3D Imaging studies.
  • Advising our CRO customers in imaging study designs.
  • Defining optimal sample processing conditions (i.e. immunohistochemistry, clearing).
  • Operating light sheet microscopes.
  • Preparing study reports and presentations.
  • Providing biological interpretation of the imaging data within your scientific expertise.
  • Collaborating with scientists and technicians within 3D Imaging and across the organization.
  • Contributing to scientific publications and conference posters.

Professional qualifications:

Required

  • PhD in natural sciences such as biology, biomedicine or similar.
  • Scientific background in either neuroscience or vascular biology.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in fluorescence microscopy.
  • In depth knowledge of immunohistochemistry and/or mRNA in situ hybridization.
  • Good project coordination skills.
  • Good scientific communication skills.

Desired

  • Hands-on experience in tissue clearing.
  • Knowledge in 3D visualization software (i.e. Imaris or Aivia).
  • Some knowledge of Python could be advantageous but not required.

Personal qualifications:

  • You appreciate teamwork and helping others.
  • You enjoy learning new methods.
  • You are detail oriented.
  • You set high standard to the quality of your work.
  • You are proactive and keen on taking responsibilities.

Please apply no later than December 31, 2023, by uploading your motivated cover letter and CV on our website. Please note, that we will evaluate applications on an ongoing basis.
