A clinical position as consultant of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Gastrounit, Medical Section at Amager-Hvidovre Hospital is open for appointment from as soon as possible.
The position is combined with a 5-year externally funded position as clinical professor of Gastroenterologi and Hepatology, Infectious Diseases or Clinical Microbiology with special focus on micro biome based clinical intervention studies at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.
With this new position the Gastrounit, Medical Section, Amager-Hvidovre Hospital wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.
It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Gastrounit has in total around 100 doctors, 350 nurses and 45 administrative employees. There is in total 146 beds with 15.000 hospitalizations yearly and around 50.000 out-patient visits, 6000 surgical procedures and 12.000 endoscopies carried out per year.
The medical section has both main function and highly specialized function within a large number of conditions in both the upper and lower part of the gastrointestinal tract, the liver and pancreas.
Clinical functions and focus areas of the department
Focus areas of the department are:
Inflammatory bowel diseases
Chronic liver diseases
Pancreatic diseases
Motility disorders and upper GI-related diseases
Endoscopy
Translational research within diseases in the Gastrointestinal tract and liver including research related to the microbiome
The applicant’s clinical functions will mainly be related to the treatment of patients with inflammatory bowel diseases in the in-hospital area and in the out-patient clinic. Dependent on endoscopic skills, there will also be possibilities to perform a variety of endoscopies.
Research and teaching
The Medical Section has a long and strong research history with approximately 50 publications per year, mainly in international journals with peer review. We have currently 2 professors, 12 PhD students and 2 post-docs.
The department teaches medical students in several levels of their education, and post-graduate education for specialization in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
With the new position as consultant in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and Hepatology and clinical professor of Gastroenterologi and Hepatology, Infectious Diseases or Clinical Microbiology with special focus on microbiome based clinical intervention studies the Gastrounit, Medicial Section wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching.
Qualifications
Applicants must be board-certified specialist in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
Conditions
In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Amager-Hvidovre Hospital.
Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.
As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g., research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of the Gastrounit, Medical Section. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full-time secretary position from the Gastrounit, Medical Section. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the Gastrounit, Medical Section, Amager-Hvidovre Hospital.
