Our research
Research at the Global Health Section takes an interdisciplinary approach to global health and covers a wide range of topics such as disasters and climate change, emergency health, infectious and mental health care. The section hosts one of the Nordic’s leading centres in disaster research- The Copenhagen Centre for Disaster Research (COPE) and the School of Global Health.
Your job
Your primary role is to take lead on the activities of the project on Strengthening links between technologies and society for European disaster resilience. This involves conducting research, coordinating with other project partners and making sure deliverables are submitted on time in cooperation with other team members. Your role will also include assisting in the activities at the interdisciplinary Copenhagen Centre for Disaster Research.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following competencies and experience:

Place of employment
The place of employment is at The Department of Public Health, Global Health Section, Copenhagen Centre for Disaster Research (COPE); CSS Campus, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment.
Terms of employment
The employment as postdoc is a full time and fixed-term position for 3 years. Starting date is July 1st 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Salary, pension and terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). Currently, the monthly salary starts at 34,600 DKK/ approx. 4,630 Euro (April 2020-level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.
Non-Danish and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions, if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.
The position is covered by the “Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at the Universities” of 2020.

Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following competencies and experience:
Essential experience and skills:
- You have a PhD in any discipline in social sciences with a special focus on disasters, resilience, and climate change adaptation
- You are experienced in conducting qualitative field work in Scandinavia
- Proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams
- Excellent English skills written and spoken
- Ability to conduct interviews in Danish or one of the Scandinavian languages is an advantage as the project requires fieldwork in Denmark
- Experience in teaching and supervision at the Master level (teaching with a focus on disasters, risk and climate change is preferred)
Desirable experience and skills:
- Experience/knowledge in using qualitative research software
- Knowledge of climate and disaster related policies in the Nordic region is an added advantage
