Two postdoc positions in epidemiology and quantitative analyses are vacant at the National Institute of Public Health (NIPH), SDU, from August 1, 2020, or as soon as possible hereafter.

The positions are time-limited to 2 years.

NIPH is situated in central Copenhagen.

Position 1: Evaluation of grocery store interventions:

The postdoc will lead an intervention project which aims at testing and evaluating how different kind of intervention strategies in supermarkets may promote sale of healthy food products. The evaluation consists of a qualitative implementation study and a quantitative effect evaluation. The postdoc will be responsible for the quantitative effect evaluation of the interventions as well as geographical analyses of differences in purchase habits. The postdoc is expected to coordinate the work of the multidisciplinary project group and collaborators, including retailers. The project group consists of a group of experienced researchers within public health, ethnographic research, biostatistics and spatial analysis and intervention research as well as a research assistant responsible for the qualitative data collection. The intervention will be implemented in collaboration with the Danish Cancer Society and a Danish grocery store chain.

The project will be part of the Centre for Intervention research in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention at the institute. This center includes research projects which develop, implement and evaluate public health interventions targeting different target groups, public health issues and settings.

Furthermore, the project will contribute to the institute’s new strategic focus on healthy weight development and obesity prevention.

Position 2: Indoor climate and health consequences:

The postdoc will lead an epidemiological project of the association between indoor climate and health. The postdoc will perform the quantitative analyses of the effects of indoor climate on cancer, respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. The project is performed in collaboration with Aalborg University. It consists of a group of experienced researchers within public health, biostatistics, building and housing, and indoor climate research. The postdoc is expected to coordinate the work of the multidisciplinary project group and collaborators at NIPH.

The postdocs are expected to further develop their own research profile within the institute, amongst other things via fundraising and scientific publication. In addition, there will be opportunities to contribute more generally to the institutional tasks within research, teaching and supervision.

Further, the postdocs will be responsible for some teaching tasks in e.g. epidemiology, demography or biostatistics at the public health undergraduate and postgraduate programme at the Odense campus of University of Southern Denmark or at the postgraduate programme in nursing science at the Emdrup Campus of University of Aarhus.

Qualifications:

  • A PhD degree within quantitative health research e.g. epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, public nutrition or intervention research (position 1)
  • Teaching experience within quantitative research
  • Experience with communicating and collaborating with the general public and public institutions
  • Experience in project management and/or coordinating multidisciplinary research projects with different stakeholders/collaborators
  • Experience in statistical programming using R, Phyton, SAS or Stata
  • Experience with epidemiological and statistical analysis of large datasets
  • Knowledge on nutrition is an advantage but not a requirement (position 1)
  • Experience with Danish national registers (position 2)
