Studiejob - København K
We are especially interested in students planning to work on a PhD thesis in macroeconomics or finance and other related fields that are relevant to the banks agenda, such as labour economics or household finance. We are especially interested in students who plan to use the extensive household and firm micro-data available at the bank.
PhD fellows will be mentored by the academic advisers on the PhD programme at the university where they are enrolled. They must be physically present at the bank on a regular basis during the week, participate in the banks professional and social environment, be integrated in the activities of the Research Unit and work towards the completion of their PhD thesis.
The Research Unit is a young, international team of PhD economists working on research topics in macroeconomics, finance, household finance and labour economics. It is highly connected to academic institutions in Copenhagen. Fellows also benefit from the wide range of expertise of economists working in different areas of the bank, and are exposed to lively policy discussions that have inspired numerous research projects.
Fellows are allocated office space and are paid a monthly stipend equivalent to the PhD stipend offered by Danish universities (currently around DKK 26,000 or EUR 3,500 per month, see the latest agreement here). Moreover, the bank provides health insurance, research funds, computer equipment and covers university fees. Fellows can be granted access to a wide variety of data collected by the bank itself, as well as access to data hosted at Statistics Denmark through the bank's general agreement with Statistics Denmark. We strongly encourage the use of this data for relevant research projects.
Since the fellowship requires regular presence at the bank, this programme is predominantly addressed to students enrolled at a university in the Copenhagen area. Students enrolled at more distant universities should specify in their application how they plan to engage in PhD course work and faculty mentoring while also being present at the bank on a regular basis.
The University of Copenhagen and Copenhagen Business School welcome applications for their PhD programme from Danmarks Nationalbank fellowship applicants. Please indicate in your application to these university programmes that you have also submitted an application for funding to Danmarks Nationalbank.
The typical duration of the fellowship is three years, conditional on annual approval of a progress report. Past fellows have had the opportunity to complete their PhD thesis during a fourth year, while being employed as research assistants at the bank.
If you are a citizen of a country outside the Nordic countries or the EU/EEA, you must hold a residence permit in order to reside in Denmark during the PhD programme. Read more here: https://www.nyidanmark.dk/en-GB/You-want-to-apply/Phd
Please submit your application by email to [email protected]. Reference letters should be sent directly to [email protected].
The deadline for applications is 25 February 2022. For questions about the resident PhD student fellowship programme, please contact Johannes Poeschl ([email protected]).
