Declaration of interest regarding two PhD projects:

The National Institute of Public Health at SDU is looking for applicants for two PhD scholarships within the field of youth mental health promotion.

We are looking for two persons with a relevant master of science degree (e.g. public health, medicine, sociology, economics, psychology, public health philosophy, anthropology, etc.).

Project description

The title of the two PhD projects is The Mindhelper Study: Evaluating the effectiveness of Mindhelper.dk, and it is funded by grants from several funding agencies and the National Institute of Public, University of Southern Denmark. Mindhelper.dk is a national online youth mental health promotion service. The Mindhelper Study consists of three sub studies: an effectiveness study, a chat interview study, and an in-depth interview study.

The aim of the first PhD project is to evaluate the effectiveness of the webpage Mindhelper.dk. This scholarship concerns the effectiveness study.

The aim of the second PhD project is to explore how young people use and integrate information and self-help tools from Mindhelper.dk into their everyday life and coping strategies towards mental health and well-being. This scholarship concerns the chat interview study and the in-depth interview study.

Research environment

The two PhD students will collaborate throughout the Mindhelper Study in close dialogue with the project group at NIPH and the Mindhelper team at the Centre for Digital Psychiatry, Region of Southern Denmark.

At NIPH the PhD student of the effectiveness study will also be part of the research group Public Health Epidemiology and the PhD student of the chat interview study and the in-depts interview study will also be part of the research group Mental Health.

Qualifications

We are looking for two dynamic candidates who should have good written and oral communication skills.

For the first PhD project we are looking for a candidate with a background and/or experience within public health, effect evaluation studies and youth health promotion. Experiences with epidemiology, effect evaluation and large data sources are highly meriting. Experience using statistical programming languages will also be an advantage.

For the second PhD project we are looking for a candidate with a background and/or experience within public health, youth health promotion and qualitative methodology. Experience with qualitative methodology is highly meriting.

• Certified copy of diploma (Master’s degree in a relevant field)

Successful candidates will be asked to send an application to the PhD Secretariat, Faculty of Health Sciences, to be enrolled as PhD students.

The PhD programme will be carried out in accordance with Faculty regulations and the Danish Ministerial Order on the PhD Programme at the Universities (PhD order)

The terms of employment as a salaried PhD Research Fellow are stated in the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC).
