With this research position, you have the opportunity to help advancing our hydrological and groundwater transport modelling, which provide key information to Danish agencies and stakeholders. You will contribute in the development of the national nitrogen modelling and our hydrological modelling projects on eg. effects of climate change, sustainable groundwater management and flooding.
You will be part of both larger and smaller projects led by GEUS or some of our collaborators and you can expect to work in teams with colleagues.
Job description
As a reseacher at department of hydrology, you will contribute to all modelling steps from data input preparation, model construction to execution and analysis and presentation of results.
You should expect to broaden your existing field in hydrological modelling, nitrogen transport, machine learning, uncertainty assessments, data analysis and data management. Research findings should be published in leading journals within the field.
You will be part of both larger and smaller projects led by GEUS or some of our collaborators and you can expect to work in teams with colleagues.
Your qualifications
You are expected to have a Ph.D. in hydrology or related and the appointment will be made on the basis of academic qualifications. Particular emphasis is placed on experience with hydrological/groundwater flow and transport modelling including particle tracking. Specific knowledge or experience with nitrogen and transport modelling as well as Python scripting will be an asset. Furthermore, experience with model code developments and previous collaboration with international research teams will be evaluated positively. Candidates that have already demonstrated a good publication record will be favoured.
Special consideration will be given to your ability to embrace a broad range of activities and collaborate within a team of colleagues on a daily basis. You must also master English and if you do not speak Danish, you are encouraged to take up Danish classes and reach an appropriate level of understanding.
Department of Hydrology
The department of Hydrology at GEUS works with the characterisation, modelling and management of the water cycle and solute transport in Danish and international contexts. The department contributes with research, consultancy, and capacity building in four main areas: hydrogeological characterisation, water and solute cycle, climate impacts and adaptation, and water management. Most of the department’s activities are carried out in close cooperation with Danish as well as foreign research institutes and universities. There are about 30 staff in the department, of which nearly 20 are researchers or PhD students and postdocs.

An expert academic assessment committee consisting of two internal senior researchers will make an individual evaluation of applicants’ academic qualifications, where candidates are deemed qualified or non-qualified in relation to the position advertised.
