8 postdoc positions are open at BRIC, University of Copenhagen (UCPH) for talented young researchers who want to pursue a research leadership career in life sciences. The scheme is co-funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement no. 945322.

About the programme
LEAD offers a 36-months fully paid fellowship and attractive employment conditions at BRIC. Each fellow will work with an original research project, developed in the intersection of fellow and host group expertise. Transfer of knowledge between the fellow and host group is a requirement. The ambition is that fellows after the LEAD fellowships aim for an independent research career in or beyond academia. An individual career development plan including research and transferable courses, mentoring and career activities, is a central element ensuring career progress throughout the training. About BRIC
BRIC (www.bric.ku.dk) is a top research centre and our researchers have made seminal contributions in the field of epigenetics, cancer biology, stem cell biology, neurobiology and bioinformatics. The centre is located in modern buildings with state-of-the art facilities and counts 250 employees and more than 60% international researchers. The daily language is English. The centre has an open and collaborative scientific environment and a postdoc and student association offering network and social activities. BRIC is part of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen.
Who can apply?
The programme is open for motivated researchers holding a PhD degree and 2-5 years of experience after issuing of the degree at the time of application. Prolonged career breaks are taken into account upon documentation (see guide for applicants). Mobility is required and applicants must not have resided or carried out their main activities (work etc.) for more than 12 months in Denmark in the 3 years immediately prior to the call deadline. Also, applicants may not have been employed at UCPH more than three months prior to the application deadline.
Key selection criteria
The selection process includes eligibility screening, evaluation of application material by external scientific experts, site visit to BRIC with personal interviews with a selection committee and matchmaking meetings with host groups. The selection will be merit-based, using weighed criteria in three defined areas:
Terms of employment and salary
The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions offer attractive salary and working conditions. Salary, pension and terms of employment are in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State and according to the rules and regulations laid down by European Union’s Horizon 2020 Marie S. Curie COFUND programme. Depending on seniority, the monthly salary begins around 34,654.76 DKK (ca. 4,653 EUR) plus pension.
Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.
Non-Danish and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions, if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.
The position is covered by the “Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at the Universities” of January 1, 2020.

The further process
After the expiry of the deadline for applications, the authorized recruitment manager selects applicants for assessment on the advice of the hiring committee. All applicants are then immediately notified whether their application has been passed for assessment by an unbiased assessor. Once the assessment work has been completed each applicant has the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that relates to the applicant him/herself.
