Postdoc positions in Clinical Proteomics at Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research

We are looking for two excellent and highly motivated postdoctoral researchers to join our Deep Visual Proteomics team. Both positions are fully funded for initially two years starting Summer 2021 with a potential extension. The exact starting dates are flexible and can be negotiated.

Job description

The Clinical Proteomics group headed by Professor Matthias Mann is looking for two outstanding postdocs to develop and apply cutting-edge clinical mass spectrometry-based proteomics. You will utilize our recently developed Deep Visual Proteomics (DVP) concept https://bit.ly/2MJ3BF6, which will be combined with single-cell proteomics methodology https://bit.ly/2LAy4Vq. The DVP pipeline is revolutionary in its promise of deciphering human disease at unprecedented resolution. By developing and implementing state-of-the-art high-resolution microscopy coupled to digital pathology workflows and ultra-high sensitivity proteomics, you will be working on patient material from clinical cohorts with the aim to improve our understanding of human disease and to discover biomarkers for personalized medicine.

Our research

The Mann Group is a diverse and interdisciplinary team of researchers, undertaking ambitious research projects involving mass spectrometry (MS)-based proteomics of archived tissue specimens for patient phenotyping at the protein level. Our team is led by Professor Matthias Mann who is one of the world’s most highly cited researchers with more than 260,000 citations and an h-index over 230 (Google Scholar). The laboratory of Professor Mann at Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research, University of Copenhagen works closely with Matthias Mann’s group at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry, Munich. The advertised positions are at Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research (CPR), a world-leading protein research center, located at Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. With multiple close collaborations to University Hospitals, the national Pathology Data Bank (Patobank) of Denmark (storing millions of well-annotated patient samples), as well as international collaborations, CPR is ideally positioned for translational clinical proteomics research.

Qualifications of the candidates

The candidates should have a deep knowledge and practical experience in MS-based proteomics or high-resolution microscopy paired with a passion for system biology approaches to profile health and (cancer) disease states. We are looking for excellent candidates with outstanding academic track-records, who have a strong desire to make a lasting impact in their field. Candidates for the postdoctoral positions must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) and are expected to have demonstrated outstanding achievements in their field of research (e.g. by first authorship in top-tier peer-reviewed international journals). If you would like to be part of this ambitious research team and have the desire to make an everlasting impact in this field, please write a one-page project proposal outlining how you would integrate the DVP technology to answer important biomedical questions, perhaps in the field of cancer. Terms of employment
The employment as postdoc is a full time and fixed-term position for 2 years. Starting date is summer 2021, or after agreement.

Salary, pension and terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). Currently, the monthly salary starts at 34,600 DKK/ approx. 4,650 Euro (February 2021-level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.

Non-Danish and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions, if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark for the last 10 years.

The position is covered by the “Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at the Universities” of January 2020.

The further process
