Department of Nutrition, Exercise and Sports, Faculty of Science at University of Copenhagen is offering a Research Assistant position commencing 01.07.2021 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Description of the scientific environment
The position is available in the Section for Preventive and Clinical Nutrition Section that possesses specialist expertise within the substantiation of health-related effects of specific nutrients, foods and whole diets.
The section conducts short- and longer-term dietary intervention studies trying to elucidate the cause-effect relationship between dietary exposure and health related outcomes along with elucidation of possible mechanisms. The section works with new methodologies for assessing dietary intake, has well- equipped laboratories, uses metabolomics as a novel method for objective assessment of dietary intake and has a focus on the potential role of the gut microbiome and on sustainability in relation to diet, health and disease.
Project description
The position is related to the project RENEW (link), that examines the role of a dairy derived calcium supplementation in the prevention of bone loss in postmenopausal women. The project is supported by the Innovation Fund Denmark, The project specifically addresses the application of a novel calcium supplement to be tested in a 12 months randomized controlled intervention trial and is conducted at two study sites.
The position is open from 01.07.2021 and available for a 17 months period.

The starting annual salary is currently at a minimum DKK 355,396 including annual supplement (+ 17.1 % pension). Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.

- Planning, management and coordination of study activities and study materials
- Handling and processing of biological samples
- Conducting trial days
- Communication between study locations and with study participants
- Participation in the scientific activities of the group
Formal requirements
We are looking for highly motivated applicants with the following competencies and experiences:
- An MSc degree in Human Nutrition, Food Science, Public Health Nutrition or related field.
- Previous experience with human intervention/cohort studies.
- An independent, rational and pragmatic mindset promoting collaboration and solutions.
- Self-motivated, highly organized personality with strong attention to details.
- Excellent communication skills in both spoken and written Danish.
- Previous experience with the programs: EasyTrial, Myfood24 and SurveyXact will be beneficial, even not a formal requirement.
- License to run DXA-scans will be beneficial, even though not a formal requirement.
