One or more PhD scholarships are available from August 15th, 2021, or as soon as possible thereafter, in the group of Assistant Professor Amelie Stein, Section of Computational and RNA Biology, Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen, Denmark. The research in the Stein group aims to link protein biophysics and genomics using computational and experimental methods.
Details of the PhD projects
The PhD students will work on disentangling the consequences of missense variants in proteins on their stability, interactions, and function. Both students with focus on experimental work as well as those interested in computational modelling of protein structure and interactions are encouraged to apply. Long-term goals in our research group and the PRISM Centre we are part of include developing predictive and mechanistic models for how genomic variation in protein-coding regions (protein variants) affect the stability, interactions and function of proteins. For an introduction to the research see e.g. our recent review (Stein et al, TiBS, 2019, https://doi.org/10.1016/j.tibs.2019.01.003. Research topics for the PhD projects include:
The Ph.D. student(s) will work together with scientists from several disciplines in a highly international environment, thus a good level of spoken and written English is required.
Principal supervisor is Associate Professor Jeppe Vinther, Department of Biology, University of Copenhagen, email: [email protected], phone +45 22840780.
