We invite applications for the position at The Translational Neurobiology Laboratory, Department of Neuroscience, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, Denmark.
We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic post-doc for studies of the neurovascular unit and cerebral blood flow regulation for a two-year period to commence 1 January 2022 with the possibility for a prolongation for up to 2 more years.
We seek an excellent post-doc with a high potential for original research focusing on the brain neurovascular unit in health and disease. Our most recent work is on calcium signaling in astrocytes and neurons, imaging of organelles, brain pericytes, the blood-brain barrier, aging and stroke. Our strength is in vivo physiology in mice using basic electrophysiological and laser-optic techniques, transgenic mice, and two-photon microscopy. The applicant is expected to work with two-photon microscopy in mouse cerebral cortex in relation to the regulation of blood flow in awake behaving mice in normal conditions and after a concussion.

Your job
You will spearhead the ongoing studies of cortical blood flow control and you will be responsible for bringing the data set to a final form that will make it to the forefront of cerebrovascular research.
Place of employment
The place of employment is at The Translational Neurobiology Laboratory, Department of Neuroscience,University of Copenhagen in the Maersk Tower at the Panum Institute in central Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in a dynamic and international research environment. Our research facilities include modern laboratories and office spaces, and the physical working conditions are excellent.
Terms of employment
The employment as postdoc is a full time and fixed-term position for 2 years. The starting date is 1 January 2022. Salary, pension, and terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). Currently, the monthly salary starts at DKK 31,065 / approx. EUR 4,169 (October 2021-level). Depending on qualifications a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.
Both non-Danish and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark for the past 10 years.
The position is covered by the “Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at the Universities” of 19 December 2020.

Qualifications:
- PhD or equivalent degree in natural or medical science
- Excellent scientific track record
- High-level user and developer of two-photon microscopy imaging applications in live mice
- Experience in Matlab or Python programming and computational data analysis
- Technical skills in real time data acquisition and instrumentation control
- Good communication skills, both oral and written
- An analytical aptitude of devising innovative scientific or technical solutions
- Interest in research-based teaching.
